I did check the address on my paypal invoice and it was correct. It even said it was a confirmed address. I suspect the seller didn't even look at the delivery instructions.

The sorting office was certain it had been sent back with no return address. The problem is that the seller insists that it's my problem to sort out - I thought it was the sender that made the claim seeing as they paid for the postage? Can the seller still make a claim seeing as they forgot to put the return address? It was sent first class recorded.

The seller has to send it to the main address in your paypal account, therefore you need to adapt that if it's causing problems.

Well if the address was the one to appear in PP and the seller was sending tracked to the PP address. It will show as attempted delivery so you will not be ale to claim non delivery. So it could be the seller has done everything correctly. Had you ever added this work address to your PP account. If you hadn't it may not have appeared after the purchase.

But if the seller has just ignored the address and used your other one you could have a PP claim. If your invoice shows this I guess this could be the case

    Just a thought.....

Maybe the seller sent it to the address thats sent with the 'Item sold' email that ebay send out, and NOT the paypal email. I used to do this (before I found out that you loose a paypal dispute if its not the paypal address) and I didnt even look at the paypal emails.... maybe this seller has done the same?

As you say your work address was confirmed, im guessing you mean in the paypal?

Maybe ask them if they used the ebay email address or paypal and see what they say?

Just open an item not recieved dispute.

The confirmed postal address in the paypal invoice was my work address, which is the one I use for almost all ebay purchases (apart from ones where I collect). The seller sent the parcel to a different address (they used my home address) and it wasn't collected because I was away for Easter. I've never had this problem before. This is what was in the invoice:

    Confirmed postal address
    xxxxxx xxxxxx
    145 xxxx Road
    London, London
    xxxx 1LP
    United Kingdom

    Note to seller:
    You haven't included a note.

    Postage details:
    Royal Mail 1st Class Recorded

    Purchase Details
    Description: xxxxx

Am I covered as far as paypal is concerned if they sent it to a different address?

Another thing that bothers me is that the parcel will be crushed, or whatever, because the seller didn't include their return address!!!

the seller wont be claiming for anything
RM did all they were required to
its down to the seller to resend or refund you
you really need to sort out your default address as i guess you added a paypal note?

But how can the sender get the parcel back if they don't make some sort of claim? - it didn't have the return address.

No, my default paypal address IS my work address.

As seller did not send to your paypal address they can't win a paypal dispute even if item tracks as not collected. You will need to be very pro active though as paypal may well look at the tracking and see parcel has an attempted delivery and find against you, so you need them to understand that it was not sent to the address in the 'OK to send' paypal box.

If it hasn't been delivered you can claim and you will get refunded, attempted delivery is not delivery. They would of course allow a sensible time for redelivery, but we've had parcels go missing that show on tracking as 'out for delivery', I've got one that's been like that for 6 months now, I sent a replacement and claimed ages ago. Its always the sellers responsibility until it has been signed for by the buyer, even then its not always cut & dry, I've just had one of those where the courier signed for the parcel and left it on a doorstep, it was subsequently stolen, I refunded.

well if it has no return address it goes to Belfast
the seller cant claim for loss as it isnt lost, belfst 'may' be able to get their package using the tracking number and returning it however the RLB is a big office and deals with many more unaddressed/poorly addressed items that you would think

as for the address, where did the seller get your home address then? your ebay details?

There have been more and more cases recently where paypal have found for the sender where a delivery was attempted. In fact I can't recall the last time someone won in this case. This closes th eloophole of buyers (and sellers on returns) being able to win merely by refusing to sign for or collect an item.

However, the buyer is safe here as seller did not send the package to the address supplied by paypal, therefore seller has lost their seller protection.
