no return address on returned parcel

Hi
An item I bought off Ebay has been returned but the seller didn't include a return address. Any ideas on how I can chase it up?
When I paid (through Ebay checkout) , I put my work address down as the delivery address. I always do this with items which are too big for the letter box as it's difficult for me to get to the sorting office within their normal working hours. On this occasion, the seller posted it to my home address. This was not a lot of use as I was away over Easter. When I got back, I found the post office had returned the parcel...
I contacted the seller and she said my home address was the only one she had and that it was my responsibility to get the post office to redeliver it. The post office says it will automatically be returned to the sender unless there is no return address, in which case it will be destroyed. Does anybody know how to sort this out? I've never had this problem before!

Take it up with Ebay, the item was not received, it's the sellers responsibility to prove delivery, so the seller has to refund you if she can't get the item to you.0

its worth contacting your sorting office incase they still have it. Unless it was recorded then it would have been sent back after a week.

If at first we don't succeed we'll try and try again
We make every effort to make sure your mail arrives safely, so we'll keep it for three weeks (one week if you sent it by Recorded Signed For™). After that, we'll return it to you if you put your address on the outside, and we'll attach a sticker explaining why we couldn't deliver it.
If you haven't put your address on the outside, we'll send mail to the National Returned Letter Centre (or to Portsmouth for Special Delivery mail and packets, and to Belfast for letters). They'll open the mail and return it to you if your name and address is inside. If it's a newspaper, magazine or advertising, however, we'll dispose of it.
The last resort
If your address isn't inside but the contents are of sentimental, legal or financial value, we hold it for three months. If you don't claim it within that time, we may have to dispose of it. In some cases, we auction these unclaimed items, and donate all of the proceeds to charity.
Do you know if she included an invoice inside with her address.
It really was silly of her to not put a return address i thought everyone knew to add theirs?0 -

Maybe also a little silly of the buyer not to double check the correct address had been sent to the seller.0 -
Hmm, me being cynical I'd watch their listings to see if it gets sold again. If your sorting office don't have it open a not received through ebay. If it was sent signed for ask for the details & check online to see if a neighbour has it. Other than that it's down to the seller to put in a claim.0

I did check the address on my paypal invoice and it was correct. It even said it was a confirmed address. I suspect the seller didn't even look at the delivery instructions.
The sorting office was certain it had been sent back with no return address. The problem is that the seller insists that it's my problem to sort out - I thought it was the sender that made the claim seeing as they paid for the postage? Can the seller still make a claim seeing as they forgot to put the return address? It was sent first class recorded.0 -

if you have the tracking number then you can track if its returned to the seller0 -
But can I get it sent back to me, or does the seller have to make a claim and then post it again?
the seller wont be claiming for anything
RM did all they were required to
its down to the seller to resend or refund you
you really need to sort out your default address as i guess you added a paypal note?0 -
