I must also say thanks as well, I have stacks of books and need to get rid of some.... I have just been looking at options and found there is a boot sale not far from here on sunday. So I shall ring tomorrow about getting a stall.
Is 50p a book a fair price to ask? Is about 5 years since I did a boot sale.
    Thanks

Another site I've heard good things about is Bookmooch but I don't use it so can't speak from experience, although I do use and recommend Greenmetropolis.com and I sell at least one book a week on average.

Have you checked if they are first editions and or first printings, you should be able to google for a guide on how to do this, it's fairly simple. If any of your books are first / first's then they can be listed in the collectibles catergory on Amazon, this means that they stand out from the crowd a little and also can be sold for a little more.

For instance here are the figures for a popular paperback book (The Da Vinci Code).

    74 new from £1.99 3252 used from £0.01 5 collectible from £2.10

So if you have a normal book you have 3252 competitors but if it's a first /first only 5 and you can charge more for it.

I've started using readitswapit.co.uk to get rid of my old books. As I read about 10+ per month it was costing me much more than I was making selling the old one's. Now I get a new book I want to read and get rid of one of the old one's every time!

The forum's on there are also really good for finding new books/series you may like, hunting down rarer books etc. I haven't bought a new book since I joined in February!

I have come accross this site, just list all the ISBN numbers and they will give you a quote, the shipping is free to send them to them and you should get back more than 1p a book!

How about a job lot through the free ads in your local paper? I have sold some like that before. Sometimes there are people advertising to buy books in there too.

I'm suprised that people are paying a lot in charity shops though, my local hospice shop sells them at 10p or 20p. 50p for autobiographies!

I buy dozens at a time then re-donate or if I am going on holiday I leave them in the hotel or wherever for other bored guests :)

I would job lot them too if I were you... I am fed up of the charity shops, I rarely get a book for less than £2 from them nowadays.. no matter how old or condition.
They're only in it for the money;)
