advice needed-staying in london and travel
Options
ok i got to travel up to the west end tonight and wont be returning home until tomorrow night. whats the best option for me. parking overnight is ok as i can park outside where im staying but daytime i will have move my car into a car park. also im going to get hit by the congestion charge.
what are my options
train in?? which with tube could still cost 30 pounds or more
pay it all including congestion charge- which could again cost 30-40 pounds
there must be a cheaper option??
im travelling in from basildon in essex btw

Hi,
Option 1 - drive in so that you hit London after 6.30 when the CC stops and travel back tomorrow night after 6.30pm. Might not work if you have to move the car - Hyde Park car park might be an option as can be reached without entering the congestion zone. Expensive to park but cheaper than parking plus CC.
Option 2 - train and tube.
Personally for what your proposing I'd take the tube. But I'd drive as close to London as I can and park the car at a station overnight. Should bring your costs down a little.
I drive into London every week and use the Hyde Park Masterpark car park then hop on the tube for zone 1. But only as I can charge the parking to the company0 -

ok thanks, do you know if there is cheapish parking in the docklands? may be an option for me to park there and get the DLR into the city? basically im parking from 7ish tonight until late tomorrow night.
i will check the hyde park suggestion though0 -
Docklands - sorry don't know. Greenwich I've used before as its a quick hop over via DLR.
Good luck with the trip. link to car park below.
