Without agreement from your employer, holidays cannot be carried forward from one year to the next. Use them or lose them.
Your written particulars of employment would tell you how bank holidays are treated in relation to your holiday entitlement.0 -
I did read today(one of the goverment pages) that holiday acrued during sick is not carried over if you are sick for the full year.
Allthough this is under review due to recent ECJ rulings so check for the latest on this.0 -

If they change it, it is another hit against employers. its already a joke how an employee can be of sick for 10.5 months and then take holiday for the rest of the yearAlways ask ACAS0 -
Holiday entitlement for a full time employee is 28 days per year period, 8 of those being bank holidays/public holidays, the remaining 20 days being at your disposal. However, as said above by 'anamenottaken' you cannot role over your allocated holiday days without prior written consent from your employer - it is up to you to ensure ypou have used all your holiday days to prevent the loss of them in that year period. make sure you know exactly when your holiday entitlement runs from/to - sounds obvious I know, but it doesn't have to be Jan-Dec, mine is June-May for example.0

I think you will find that an employer can no longer allow/agree rollover of statutory holidays, except when there is stautory accumulation through maternity and possibly sick(ECJ rulling has put this under review) that canot be taken during the holiday year.0 -

Again a stupid ruling, I can understand not rolling over the whole leave but surely its a common sense thing to allow 5 days to be rolled overAlways ask ACAS0 -

We used the any holiday attached to the previous year was fine(handy to take newyear wek off with last years holiday, 5 days max to be used within 3 months.
Problem is rollover was OK but stat holidays have gone up so closer to the norm, companies that give decent holidays 25+bank holidays don't have an issue they still have some to roll over.0 -
in reply to some of the negative responses i had the accident at work what was the full responsibility of my employers i had never been a SICKIE up to that and it has left me incapable of working at present0
