DMP Newbies

Hi

I know there are a few of us just starting on DMP's at the moment and thought this might be a useful thread to help each other through the first few months of letters, calls, acceptances and refusals
It could be a place we can come and support each other, compare creditors decisions or just somewhere we can come and have a moan!!
It might even be useful for someone thinking about a DMP to see what it will be like and hopefully won't put them off!

    Great idea
My OH has unsecured debts of 50k and we also have a morgage etc, not in any trouble with prioity debts, just the unsecured one, he started to do a DMP himself, but has now let the cccs take over and we have just sent off the paperwork.
When he satrted his own, it was strange that a few that he owed most to excepted reduced payments and froze interests, yet others whom he owed, little in comparrison, were awful!!
My main fears was losing the home as its adapted for my disabilities, the debts are solely in OH name only the morgage is joint and thats up to date.
I did not think a DMP was possible as ours will run to 34 years but debtline and cccs said its ok.
    Long haul
Best wishes lets support each other

    Hi Michelle

34 years may sound a long time but remember circumstances change and you may be able to reduce this significantly over time.
If you have any questions about a DMP ask Wonder_Girl she is very helpful and will help you all she can.

Just like to share my good news!
I was really worried about MBNA (Abbey) after reading some of the threads on here but I have just received in the post this morning a letter from them accepting my DMP with CCCS AND they are stopping interest for 12 months as well as supressing any recent charges!!! :j
Also we are elegible for a 'restructure' whatever that is, which means after 3 payments they will remove the arrears and show the account as up to date with the credit agencies! (not that this is that important anymore!)
    I am so relieved!!

We just got a letter from CCCS saying that one of our creditors has refused to accept the offer

    Hi Seeweed
I am so pleased for you, I know that must be a weight lifted from your mind. OH has just started with the CCCS, they should be sending letters to his creditors, this week, I just hope that they are as understanding, OH did begin a DMP on his own and some of the creditors (ones who he owed more too) were fairly understanding, hope they continue to be with the cccs dmp, but at least with them doing it, we know that they know the facts and the law, so hopefully that will make the creditors listen, hope it also stops the phone calls and letters.
Great to hear your news, will keep posting
    Michelle

Aww hang in there I am sure it will get easier, I am just waiting for the rejections to come in as it all seems to be going a bit too well
I am worried about Morgan Stanley now, they just don't seem to get the message that we are going through CCCS and keep ringing all the time. And they are one of the people we owe the least money too!
Who did you get the rejection from?

    It was Nationwide Credit Card.

Our mortgage is also with them, so they know we own the house. I would imagine they will try for a charging order

I really know what you mean, our rejection came from GE money and they are also ones he owes the very least too, also they never stop phoning, total muppets for sure.
Lloydes tsb excepted him on loan 19K
but on 2k overdraft said no, but that was all on his own DMP, now thw cc
cs are now taking over, so will keep you posted as to how all that goes, totally here for support if you need to share, its better knowing that we are sooo not alone, Wonder_girl, who posts on here, is brilliant also and can give informed advice.
