New Kitchen

Hi,
We've just had an offer accepted on a house so we are now looking to buy a new kitchen.
We've had a quote from Wicks for £3436.00 and B&Q for £2325.00
Has anybody used either of these companies? We've read some mixed reviews on them both.
Looking at a review site, none of the leading kitchen suppliers get a good review.
Ideally we would like to spend around £2500.00 so it rules out some of the more expensive companies.
Any suggestions?

If you have a friend who's in the building trade, perhaps they can get you a kitchen from Howdens.0

Thanks but unfortunately we dont have any one who is in the trade

How about Kitchen Direct? I was recommended them by a friend the other day, haven't been to them yet. Does anyone have any experience with them?0

wickes all day long against b+q. take your quote in to see if there is any movement. they will try and get it down if they want the sale. just tell them the next project is the bathroom.0

Go back to Wickes and tell them if they'll bring it down a little (usually 5% or 10%) you'll buy it there and then. Works every time!
Wickes kitchens are by FAR better than B&Q...If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

We have just fitted a Homebase kitchen, and the fit and finish is fine. We had a quote from Howdens, but the cost of the Homebase one was half the price.
We have 6 wall cabinets, 8 base units (including 2 big corner units), 3 x 3 metre worktops, cornice, pelmet, Siemens dishwasher, Hotpoint Tumble dryer, AEG hob, AEG extractor, and the whole lot came to £3K. The finish is light oak laminate.
Most flat pack kitchens are made in one huge factory in Germany, who then supply Magnet, Wickes, Howdens, Homebase and B & Q.0 -
My Howdens kitchen wasn't a flat pack. The units arrived already assembled."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0

If you go to a local Howdens, they'll give you the names of a few fitters.0
