Thanks for all posts, in reply
No I didnt keep the files, I deleted them ALL including bank details,
    luckily for them..

I did visit the shop within the guarenteed period on 2 occations and they gave me further instructions to try.

I wont be purchasing again from these stores and only due to my own finacial circumstances that I did.

I got what I paid for? I didnt realise a typwriter cost £150 nowadays. They sold it as a Wireless Laptop so shouldnt the 'Unfit for the purpose it was sold for' Act come into this?

An assistant informed me that a Health check should of been carried out and Data cleared before selling on.
This now make me wonder if it was stolen and the shop wanted rid quickley?

The programmes in hindsight may of already been installed for all I new, when the original owners bought new. I can only presume as I am no Techie...
Reason being it had a lot of additional Programmes and Mp3 songs installed into it.

lets not pretend it was preinstalled from new

so whats the issue? is it the wifi, internet or what?
your not exactly forward with the info here
why didnt you just come on the forum and ask for tech help with the problem?

Just because a software programme is present on the laptop, it does not mean you are in legal ownership.

Generally the basis of a licence for window is a sticker attached to the chassis (or the sticker still attached to the retail windows cd/booklet). As for other software this varies. Just so you know.

Just because you cannot connect to the internet, doesn't mean there is a fault with the laptop - it will be very rare that it's a hardware fault. A good way to test is get a linux LiveCD (ubuntu etc) if this isn't too far out of your comfort zone, boot that and give it a try. (there are situations where even this wouldn't work).

The programmes are nothing special, Winamp, some photo editing programmes, and mp3 downloads, what I have looked up are free anyhow from cnet. I only brought this into it to give reason why I didnt return it from the start. They really wasnt worth bothering about in comparrison to months of the hassle it has gave me..

so whats the issue? is it the wifi, internet or what?
The fact it wont connect to the internet. A techie from the shop gave me written instructions to follow twice which didnt work.

Reason being I was fed up of trying following advice in the Help and Support section.
It was the store who sent it away to be fixed, It was them who told me there was a hard drive problem...I thought on them grounds alone I would be able to get a refund, obviously I was wrong..

So my problem is; They have sold me an item unfit for the purpose I wanted to use it for. The guarentee expired whilst trying to resolve the problem,
They said there was nothing could be done, hardware issue.
So I am left with nothing more than a typewriter

Once a guarentee has expired is that it, tough...
If so, yes It would be great for advice from any techies out there..

What I can assure you is that there is nothing underhanded about me whatsoever and I am not hiding nothing, if anything I babbled in my original post instead of stating the problem.
I did noy try to benefit, that is a bit harsh when I didnt no the legality regarding this..

With respect, whilst I take it you are on the forum to give advice, Is it necessery to word your posts in the patronising manner you have done. I am a respectable 41 year old woman, not some kid on a scam

have you conected the laptop to a wired net connection?

if you didnt buy the music files then they are not yours,so you know this dont you?
had you asked for tech advice the first advice would have been to do a factory reset/clean install

try writing to head office or ringing them rather than dealing with the store , they are a franchise set up so head office will put pressure on the store if they are in the wrong

    custardy said nothing wrong.

Isn't saying "not some kid on a scam" patronising itself? Being a "41 year old woman" doesn't come into it, not one bit. Neither are "kids" more likely to scam.

Regarding your issue, it's "expired" now, but you did give it to them before the 3 months right? I would pressure on that basis (to the address that you were given above).

As for a HDD issue, this shouldn't cause wireless problems (unless it's corrupted the wireless driver, but that's easy, just reinstall/update the wireless nic driver). I wouldn't worry about the wireless for now, they confirmed a fault and you (I think) returned it to them (or tried to) within the 3 months, I would press on that basis for now.

As for wireless, describe to us how it is not working, saying "it doesn't work" doesn't help sadly, any error messages? If there really is an issue with the HDD (did they give you any details on why/how?) then resolving the wireless issue might not be what you want to do...

WOW what is the deal with everyone picking on this woman that has come here for help, she explained in her opening post that there were various other programs/music and !!!!!! already on the laptop, she DID NOT come here saying hey i got loads of programs/music and never paid for them.

So at the end of the day i think people should get off her back regarding this as she did not ask for them, she received them on there when she purchased the laptop and she has already said that she deleted all of them.

I really do not understand what has happened to these forums when someone comes on here for help and just gets holes picked into them for something that was not even there fault, it was the shops fault for not deleting them.

reded i would do as Browntoa has said, contact head office tell them your situiation and that you did contact the store within the guarantee period and was just fobbed off by them.
I would also raise the issue that you were not happy in purchasing a laptop with !!!!!! among other stuff on it and that you would have thought that the store would have taken more care in getting the laptop in a suitable conition before it was sold on.
Tell them that you would like a refund in light of all the issues and if they are not prepared to do so that you will be contacting trading standards and even the press to let them know how the company operates.

Fishing Cinema Thank You. I have not posted very much and used to wonder what people meant by 'Please be nice to me' ? I havent been on forum for days...

Now I no, I shall take your advice rather than try and fix myself.

I have spent long enough trying to resolve a problem which I shouldnt of been presented with in the first place, Thanks again

I have since contacted the store main manager who leases the shop, he told me if I had notified him sooner there may of been something he could of done...

Cop out to me, he didn't mention any of other factors or that I had been in three times before the 3 month guarentee expired..

So letter has now gone to the main HO and I await their reply..
