Library charges. Our library charges 50p to reserve a book which it has access to. However, if it has to order a copy specially because it's not in stock then they charge £3.50.

Haven't seen the Penny pinchers one but I got TWG from Amazon and keep dipping into it (although the universal casserole recipe doesn't work well with leftover rice - spuds would be better)

We are charged .15p per reservation, whether it comes from another library or not. I am so thankful our library is cheap, I reserve books all the time - can't say how much it has saved me from buying a book I really didn't need!!

actually, just out of interest since there's so many people on this thread that have read or have the tightwad gazette, has anyone tried the recipe for Cuban Bread? I did twice, but couldn't get it to work at all, wayyyyy too much flour. Has anyone else got it to work?...

I had to laugh & Moggins & Chipps, dropping books in the bath. I once lent my MIL Maureen Lipmans biography, it was a hard back copy & a b'day gift from my kids. MIL dropped it in the bath & was getting her self in a terrible state trying to get hold of another copy. Til I offered to lend her a recipe book she wanted, but explained it was a bit wrinkled as I'd dropped it in the bath. She was so relieved.
