But did it also categorically state that you wouldn't get charged a surcharge, for an 'overweight' item, for both legs of your journey ?
    If not, be very wary.
Here is a copy of the email reply we received back from TC Airlines:

    Good Afternoon,

Thank you for your email. We would like to apologise for the delay in our response, this is due to the high volume of calls we are receiving at present.

I can confirm we will allow you to combine your allowance together. We do need to make you aware though that the maximum we allow any suitcase to be is 30kgs so anything over this may be asked to be removed. This is purely for the safety of the airport handlers.

    Kind regards

    Thomas Cook Airlines.

personally I'd be more concerned about lifting and lugging round a 30kg case myself let alone the baggage handlers when it comes to stairs in your hotel, in and out of car/taxi/bus?
We probably won't take nearly that amount in weight anyway as lots of light clothing, Cyprus this time of year very hot and sunny, besides I have a big strapping 6ft 1" hubby to do any lifting, the case is a soft one on wheels as well but perhaps we may think of going for 2 cases in the end as looks like we may have a lot of space left once it is packed, don't want everything "sloshing" around in there do we?:A

Keep an eye on the weight of your hand luggage as well as certain airlines have reduced this weight from 10k to 5k- ouch!!!! Package holiday reps are terrible at in-resort airports for stinging you for anything they can make a few quid on- all bonuses so be careful of that rep who is the guy with the deep tan and white teeth- he is the worst!!!!!!!!!
Our hand luggage has been confirmed as 5kg each, I also presume there is a size limit on that too.:A

I was in Dalaman once & they made us put our (small) handbags on.

We were coming up as over, so to calculate how much £££ they wanted every little bit they could, so hand luggage (fair enough) but small handbags, I've never had that done before or since.

    Of course:)

They all vary slightly, so look on the website for the airline.

Yeah, as I stated on previous post, we will be taking a printed copy of this letter. But then saying that, we are now thinking about taking 2 cases anyway going off suggestions of previous posts but has anyone got any idea of what size cases will hold 15kg of luggage, we want lightweight cases on wheels?:A

IMO, taking 2 bags would be very sensible.
For us, we have found that soft bags with wheels are a lot handier than 'rigid' suitcases, and possibly a lot cheaper as well

Hi have to say we are in the same boat as you this year usually do carribean so 20kg PPerson and there are 5 of us this year we are off to turkey without oldest daughter and down to 15kg each so we are going to do 1 large hard bodied case for personal things in case carousel rips the bags and 3 soft holdalls we tend to mix the contents up in case one bag gets lost sorry forgot to say that dalaman airport is notorious for charging for overweight even when it is debateable that it is

My sister left England WITHIN her luggage allowance, had a holiday in Turkey, used her toiletries that she brought with her, bought one tiny fridge magnet as a souvenir & they charged her £50 excess baggage at Dalaman, they made her put her tiny clutch handbag on too.

I was on that same holiday & was charged too (but I might have been over, she KNOWS she wasn't).
Everyone in the queue had to pay:(
