What you can legally do is add your parents to your policy as named drivers. You remain the main driver. This does bring your premium down.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Above is totally correct. Even at age 29 adding my dad knocked £30 off my £180 policy. He never drives my car. Imagine it makes even more difference to a younger driver.0

Made some progress today in that IKube provided a quote for under £2000 for a group 3 car. All the others were in excess of this.
Might there be anyone who has recently received a good quote for a 17 year old male.0 -

Did you try DirectLine?
My car is group 4 and I got insurance for £1500 on it. 3P F and T though.0 -
Yes I did, but they declined to quote for what I can only assume was the lack of No Claims or being 17.0

Hey mate,
Im in the same boat as you. Except i was 18 in january, and passed in february. Cheapest quote was £2300 which was from Quinn, who have unfortunately gone into administration. Next cheapest is £3200, from endsleigh direct from their site. I'll let you know if i get any good news. Shaf.0 -
We tried Direct Line as well and they wouldnt quote him,0

My first years insurance when I was 17 was £680 for a 300 quid metro... 1.0
You have to make sure you dont crash in this time, if you do... your !!!!!!ed... I was lucky and never... :-)
I have insured my group 20 car for less than that since... lol
It will also heavily depend on postcode, ie, any birmingham postcode is pretty much double the equivalent redditch post code. No idea why!Plan

georgebennett wrote: »Hello, just seen your post on car insurance for a 17-year-old driver. I found a website on Google called igetuquote.co.uk where an individual person searches for a car insurance quote for you and gets it as cheap as possible. I was getting quotes for £4000, and he managed to get me a quote for £2600 which is so incredibly worth dealing with him for the sake of 10 minutes which you would spend on filling out other quote forms.
Take it from someone who has dealt with him before and has experience a massive save of over £1000, especially from this guy finding a cheaper quote for me personally.
Just thought i'd let you know as i was once in your very position getting quotes for ridiculous prices until i found this guys website! It helped me out so much and I was so close to giving up and not driving.
The website is igetuquote.co.uk.
I hope he can help you as much as he helped me!
Thanks and good luck!
Smells like spam.
igetuquote.co.uk doesnot appear to be FSA registered. Nor does the site's registrant ("Ollie Cartledge") appear in the FSA's register of authorised individuals.

just got my son insured with aviva - 54 plate citroen c2 sx 1.1
tried loads of different companies online and by phone - spent hours
had a quote for £1689 with me as main driver (not fronting as I will be using car as well as my old car is dead) and my son as named driver
Gave them a ring and they got me a quote with him as main driver and me as named driver, fully comp, him on a provisional licence, with the likelihood of the premium staying the same when he passes his test (most insurers increase the premium on passing)
Wait for it £1226.80 - really pleased as you can imagine
All I can say is well done Aviva for being realistric and not ripping the normal person off - not like most
GOOD LUCK!0
