Vodafone Question
I've bought a new contract with Vodafone.
I'm giving it as a present.
Would it be possible to pay add money to this mobile account to pay monthly cost for a period of time rather than it go through the Direct Debit i've set up for it?
What i'm really asking is if i pay say £100 credit to Vodafone, would they take monthly payment off credit before using Direct Debit?
Thanks

Keep the direct debit set up but you can always phone up prior to payment date on bill and make a manual payment or do it via online (must be option for that too).
Mind if you miss a payment, they will cut of the service and set the debit collectors on ya.0 -
If you are setting up a contract in your name whereby you are making the monthly payments but are not the user, it might be an idea to contact Vodafone giving them the name of the user so that person can have full access to the account and be able to manage the account.
It could be difficult for Vodafone to take money in advance before bills are issued for a monthly contract, but there are other way of making a payment. You can make payment through a Vodafone store, online or through Vodafone's automated service.0 -
You may also find an extra monthly charge for paying (in effect) by non-direct debit.0

OK maybe its not that easy.
I know sometimes when you renew a contract and keep same handset the mobile company adds credit to your account as well. And i wondered if you could do the same.
The contract is for my Daughter, and i want to pay for it, other people were going to contribute upfront, so i thought that might just be an easier way.
Thanks anyway0 -
Hi stulaunch, In regards to your Question, You can "prepay" some of the line rental so it doesnt debit by direct debit.
For example,
If you prepay £100 (Manual Card Payment) and your line rental is £10.
You have paid the line rental for 10 months, so the next payment would be taken in the 11th month by direct debit.
You would not incur any direct debit charges, as the direct debit is still set up.
So the bill would reduce the amount of credit on the account, and once it is used up then further line rental charges would be taken by direct debit.

Hi stulaunch,
milldred has hit the nail on the head with her last post. If you wish to add credit on to the account by way of a card payment, then that credit would go towards bills until it was used up. At which point payments would be taken by Direct Debit again.
If you would like us to help you do this and also set your daughter up with authorisation to access the account then please feel free to contact our team via - Web Relations Team - Vodafone UK (When contacting, please quote the code WRT135 in the subject line, in the main message body please include a link to this thread and your user name.)
I look forward to hearing from you.
All the best,
