I love High Hopes as well - although DH and DD are a bit snobby about it and think I'm a bit sad.

If you like High Hopes you'll love the film 'Very Annie Mary' - it'll have you crying with laughter (although, some friends who lived in the 'Valleys' area portrayed in the film couldn't see the funny side of it).

My friend told me about the film Very Annie Mary, she watched it with her mum and they thought it was hilarious. It's not a new film though.

As for High Hopes it's sooo funny - the episode where Prince Charles visited and they gave him space cake and then the boys dressed up as Al Quaeda nearly left me having to have an ambulance!!!! I also love Satellite City by the same writer, especially the old man, Idris. Brilliant.

And it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end

The 'Al Qaeda' episode was the first one I saw as well - and i could have shared your ambulance.

Very Annie Mary is quite old, therefore quite cheap to buy, and is also a 'film four' film, which is now free.

That's why you have to watch every episode - because there is usually a gem tucked into even the most pathetic episode. My whole family think it's useless, and won't watch it, but they all loved Annie Mary, so you're not alone.

Enjoyed the one to-night - especially the line about the PC taking his blow-up doll to the swimming pool "we just drifted apart"

(OK, it was better in the show than on here)
