    Re bumping this thread.

Is the polstyrene coving any good? we have loads of rooms to do and wouldnt be painting it.

    Thanks,

To be honest it always looks pants when its up.

Why wouldn't you be painting it?

I did mine not so long ago (plaster)and made a mitreblock and stuck it up with the low odour waterbased Gripfill.....As mentioned previously you can buy mitreblocks .

Theres no real shortcuts with coving........

    Thanks,

No idea. I used plaster coving, 3m lengths, and put it up myself. I used gyproc coving cement and found there was so much grab that I did not need to nail it in place while it dried, but you do have to make sure you put plenty of cement on, and press the coving into place firmly. You also need average length arms or longer.

Not painting? It'll look naff and painting coving takes no time at all. Get yourself a decent 3" brush. I applied a mist coat first, but I suspect it really needs a coat of acrylic primer, the same stuff you put on wood, as that it what I used on a plasterboard ceiling, followed by a couple of emulsion coats, and it looks great.

is polystyrene coving, cut with the aforementioned kitchen knife and a little blue plastic guide from Wickes. This is in the hallway and to be honest, can't tell it being any different from the plaster coving in the other rooms (except my joints are neater!)
