Is my fish sick?

Obviously I am a cruel person who loves to stunt the growth of animals.
Well you didn't exactly give them a good head start by calling one after a flakey bint and one after a dead person, did you?:D
Cruelty at it's worst.
No practical advice to offer I'm afraid. Would your flatmate object to them being in a more communal area rather than your room? Fish are supposed to be very relaxing to watch, maybe you could sell the idea to them, lol. Then you could try find a bigger tank on Freecycle as mentioned?
(I wont tell you I got rid of a decent sized one from my loft not so long ago.) :cool:Herman - MP for all!0 -

You always seem to appear when I have tantrums
He hates fish, he was adamant if I got any then they were to kept in my room.
Hey, Bradley and Stacey are perfectly good names :rotfl:Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -
Well in that case pet, you're stuffed.
What about getting another small tank and separating them? They'll only keep falling out anyway so you'll be saving them some time. :rotfl: Far from ideal but I've got no other suggestions I'm afraid. Good luck, hope you find a solution.Herman - MP for all!0 -

QUOTE "Perhaps you shouldn't "condemn" people who simply have been given the wrong information. Or rather who are given conflicting information.
This is exactly why nobody feels like they can ask questions on this board, people go without knowing the answers for fear of being misstaken for someone who is just cruel." QUOTE
Maybe in future you will take your advice from the correct forums.
A money saving forum isnt exactly the best place to go on a specialist subject like this.
You have already been pointed in the right direction - the Practical Fishkeeping site is one of the best sites there is out there.
For the sake of your fish - please spend a little time reading & take advice from the right people.0 -
You researched all over the internet and completely failed to pick up on having a filter, having space for them, the horrible effects of sitting in their own waste, the effects of over-feeding and that you should cycle your tank first? :T0

And your point is? :rotfl:
I think Drea now realises perhaps she wasn't correctly advised. Maybe it would be more helpful to come up with some suggestions as to what to do now rather than going over old ground?
Not as much fun as kicking someone when they're down right enough, but infinitely more useful.Herman - MP for all!0 -

Oh I knew about having a filter, which is why I made a point to ask the fish shop about that very subject. I also asked them about having space for the fish AND looked on google (if you search you'll find the same information I did I'm sure), as for sitting in their own waste, I have been cleaning the tank every second day as I was told to. Over feeding, well, I feed them 3-3.5 flakes each a day. Apparently I'm supposed to be feeding them 2 each a day, not a HUGE difference. But yep, I'll put my hands up to that.
Oh and I did cycle my tank, when did I ever say I didn't?
So yes, I did try to do everything right. Turns out I've been given the wrong information which now I'll do something about. Thanks for your input.
It does make me wonder... how did people keep fish before the internet existed... did we perhaps have to listen to the very person who sells us them?Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -
It may be just me, but I fail to see why somebody completely new to fish keeping, who has asked the professional opinion of someone who does this for a living, should expect that information to be so completely far from the truth. Surely the problem here is the information at the source. Kind of feels like a case of shoot the messenger.0

Its all about making money like Froglet said at the beginning of this post.Fish shop sells fish. Fish gets sick. Shop sells you medicine. Fish dies. Shop sells you another fish/and or a bigger tank !
Much better to take advice from those who keep healthy, correctly stocked, tanks for their own personal pleasure.0
