Tv Bracket On a Budget

Options
We are decorating our flat from top to bottom, only basic stuff as its a rented flat so we do not want to pump too much money into, but we do have a new born baby on the way plus a 3 year old son and would like everything done before shes here.

I have a 40" Sony flat screen and was wondering does anyone know the best place to get TV brackets so I can put it on the wall (out of harms and dirty hands way), I have looked around and it seems the average price I seem to find is between £80 - £100. I dont want anything to cheap as I wouldnt want to risk the TV falling down of course, but with so much money going on baby stuff and the decorating of the rest of the house my hands are tied at the mo, any ideas.

Hi, there is no need to pay over £50 for any bracket. However when comparing different priced brackets take note of the specifications. You will notice that slimmer brackets that only protrude an inch are dearer than others that hold the tv further from the wall. Also do you need a tilting bracket, that will depend on how high you are siting the tv. I have found that www.theplasmacentre.co.uk can supply good brackets from around £20-£35 and the price includes delivery, if you see cheaper elsewhere compare the spec first. The only risk of it falling is if you don't secure it as instructed. At the moment if you enter hifijan at the checkout you get £5 discount.
I have used UM105S non tilt and UM118S tilt and found them both good quality.

Sounds good thanks Keith mate, I understand about fitting it properly y it falling I actually ment, that its cheap because its a poor quality bracket or metal used that the TV weight would be too much for it, but I know to check the specs to ensure its fine will do that and check the site out also good to hear the offer, thanks again!
  • i think the prices you see in the high street for both tv brackets and hdmi leads are heavily inflated.

you can try ebay for good deals on both, also play.com and amazon.
you can also try googling for retailers/suppliers, there is no need to be fleeced.

places like currys/dixons/comet use leads and stands/brackets as money makers. they will tell you that a £10 lead or £30 bracket will be poor quality. thats nonsense. they just want to upsell you and make thier comission.

i bought a lovely stand with a canteliver bracket built in to mount my tv to the stand. similar stands in argos, comet etc go for around £300. mine was £120.

you will probably find that they are all the same manufacturer, just different packaging.

if you have a b&m store near you, they could be worth a look. iv seen good value brackets in there.

How about this from Ikea. No tilt or swivel, just cheap and cheerful.
