I wonder if anyone has informed the people taking part that if they accept any monies, even if its just a token payment towards petrol, that they need a Private Hire plate and everything that goes along with that?

I wonder if anybody has told you that you are talking b****x.
All ABI motor insurers have agreed that if your passengers contribute towards your running costs your insurance cover will not be affected, as long as lifts are given in a vehicle seating eight passengers or less. This agreement does not apply if you make a profit from payments received or if carrying passengers is your business." (Source: ABI website, 2008)

If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

Being someone who does not have a car and gets about by bus or mountain bike I have used this website a number of times...

    https://www.liftshare.com/uk/

Last time to go to Yorkshire.

Anyone else used this site or know of other similar ones?

I'm registered on it along with my wife. It gets us priority parking where we both work. No too bad, since we would share anyway.
