The Gadget Show Competition

Does anyone actually win all the prizes they have on their competition? There's loads of gadgets worth over #20K and it would all go to 1 lucky person. Surely it would be better if they split it up and gave away a couple of prizes each week so it increases your chances of winning??
Just wondering...

I always woundered. But when i was at The Gadget Show Live Last Week. They asked were asking the audience of each show and in our sitting they had 2 winners.Peter: Hey Lois... what's this word? Lois: Evil. Peter: And this one? Lois: Knievel. Peter: And this one? Lois: Was. Peter: And this one? Lois: Born. Peter: And this one? Lois: In.
Peter: And this one? Lois: Montana. Peter: Ah... oh, hey Lois did you know Evil Knievel was born in Montana? Family Guy - I Take Thee, Quagmire 04x210 -

I've been thinking about this for a while now... Their prize list is just a stupid amount for one person! Sometimes I have seen the offers include 3 digital cameras, 2 laptops and a netbook. Not to mention the other £17000's worth of prizes! lol
Perhaps i'm just jealous? But surely it would help promote the gadget show and their prize suppliers if the prizes were shared out even just a little?
I'm reluctant to trust anything like these competitions anyway, we've all seen how the tv shows can rip us off....0 -
Totally agree they should split it all up, unless I won the lot of course haha, as was mentioned I went to the Gadget show Live and when they asked the adience if anyone had won, three people put there hand up but suprising enough one had won a mountain bike, the other a T-Shirt... Single prizes! never seen them advertise these sort of prizes before. lol0

It's far easier (and cheaper) for them to just ship the whole lot to one address and dump it there than to have to discuss secure delivery arrangements with fifty different people.
There'd also be arguments about who got what. "Can I have the mountain bike and the 50-inch television instead of the Dyson and the iPhone?" "No." "Why not". "Look, you're bloody lucky to be getting anything at all." "But our little Johnny wants the mountain bike, not a hoover." "Well, so does somebody else - and he's the one who's going to get it." "Yes; but what if he's in his sixties?." "He'll probably have grandchildren. Now when do you want us to deliver the Dyson: it's quite big." "Yes, it's too big for our cupboard under the stairs; we want the mountain bike, instead." etc.
But I do agree with you. One of the reasons we don't enter the competition is because we don't want £35,000 worth of techie gear suddenly to be stuffed into our garage, unexpectedly, and then become a magnet for every thief in the area until we can shift 95% of it on eBay.
Whereas, if we had more chance of winning just half a dozen nice items, along with a whole lot of other people, we probably would.
So, The Gadget Show loses out on getting any money from us at all.
Don't laugh at banana republics. :rotfl:
As a result of how you voted in the last three General Elections,
you'd now be better off living in one.

What a strange bunch you are complaining that you could win too many gadgets this being a techie forum an all.
For me the idea of a competition is to win something that is unobtainable and for me that would be £30000 or whatever of gadgets. I have entered the odd time but sadly have not won.
If they offered individual prizes and it was something I really desired I am sure I could scrape together enough cash to buy it.0 -
I wonder how difficult it is to stick a couple of the guys working for them in the audience and ask them to raise their hands when the question is asked. You probably have more chance winning the lottery than one of these money-grabbing scams.
I doubt if you have more chance of winning the lottery. The odds on winning the UK lotto are 14 million to one, I very much doubt if anywhere near that number enter the gadget show competition.
Surely the whole point is to publicise the gadget show. By offering a huge prize they get people talking about it and hopefully watching the show. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0
