You cannot get IS.
sorry, i dont get it man.
the site says:
It's for people who all the following apply to:
are between age 16 and the age they can get Pension Credit
have a low income
work less than 16 hours a week
aren't in full-time study (but there are some exceptions)
don't get Jobseeker's Allowance or Employment and Support Allowance
don't have savings above £16,000
live in Great Britain
I would fulfill all of these, if I were part time.0 -
Current JSA is £65.45. You can earn £5 without it being reduced. If you earn £10 you will lose £5 JSA. If you earn £15 you will lose £10 JSA and so on.
The 16 hours aspect is just for the sake of national insurance contributions.
You will probably be entitled to Housing Benefit/Local Housing Allowance and Council Tax Benefit as well."If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools"

You need to also fulfil the criteria I listed earlier. You do not qualify for IS.Gone ... or have I?0 -
You need to also fulfil the criteria I listed earlier. You do not qualify for IS.
IF you do qualify from the list DMG posted AND ALSO from the the list you are looking at, you may be able to look at a claim.
Why do you think you'll be able to get job seekers allowance when you are in a job and not a job seeker???? Am I missing something, this whole thread has me confused.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -

However, if he works under 16 hours he could claim JSA, as explained before, however he only has a £5 disregard and anything else he earns above this will be taken off his JSA £1 for a £1.0 -
so working part time is only beneficial if earning a fair amount OVER £65 JSA threshold, correct? If gonna be earning £70 to £90 pw working part time, well, whats the point in working part time at all im thinking..
how much is ESA? which website tell us? its about 65 or 75 ?0 -

One bedroom flat for me allows for £400 pm housing benefit.
But I dont understand what happens if the rent is say £370.
"If your rent is up to £15 less than the Local Housing Allowance rate that applies to you, any benefit you might get will still be based on this rate. If your rent is more than £15 less than the Local Housing Allowance rate that applies to you, any benefit you may get will be based on a lower rate."
But ive also read this:
"If your rent is lower than the Local Housing Allowance Rate, you will be able to keep any excess benefit up to a maximum of £15 per week. If your rent is higher than the Local Housing Allowance rate you will need to pay the difference from other sources of income or look for alternative accommodation."
And i dont understand what i would get if i shared a flat, eg if i start renting a flat with someone else, a 2 bedroom flat. What is this classed as? one bedroom shared? two bedrooms? Do you generally get less for shared accommodation or more?0
