Hi
Maplin have a 300GB Seagate External USB 2.0 Hard Drive on promotion for a special price of £99.99.
Seagate are excellent drives hard to beat.

Aldi had one recently, I think it was 250GB @ £99; they will have some left in some stores.
I have a 160 GB one I bought about two years ago but have hardly used. When I did come to use it, it wouldn't spin up. It turned out to be a Samsung with 5 years warranty and they replaced it no problem. May be worth considering for the 5 year warranty. It also had firewire. Hope this helps.0 -
Thanks, they are a lot cheaper than I had expected. I was mainly looking for one to back up my music/photos, so I think I'll take your advice Chris and get a warranty as I dont want to lose them due to a glitch.
This may be a stupid question, but how big are they usually but do you need to have them plugged in all the time, or only when you use them? (I'm not very tech minded)0 -

You should consider backing up your photos onto CDr/DVDr as well as your Hdd.
HDD's are much more reliable than ever, but even new ones can fail.
Music can be replaced but lost photos are of more value......."Food has replaced sex in my life. Now, even I can't get into my own pants."0 -
Aldi were doing one this week I think it was over 300Gig for £99.99. It was USB2 Connection and good value (7200 Speed), don't know if they will have any left but worth looking.. Keep your Chin up.. it can only get better
I'm one of those people who was born to have money,
but I just don't have any!

I have just received a mail shot from Maplin. If you phone them you could ask if you can have the £7 off voucher for purchases over £74. They are advertising the 300 GB External Seagate Hard Drive, reduced from £169.99p to £99.99p and dont forget the £7 money off voucher.

Thanks for all your help! I have backed up a few photos to DVD, but it tends to be one of those things that I have at the bottom of my list of things to do
but you're right Mediaman they are a lot harder to replace than music, so I think I'll do a few a day just in case of computer glitches.
I've found a 250GB Hard Drive at PC World for £79.99 which seems pretty good, just wondered does anyone know any discount vouchers or postage discount codes for them as I dont have a store nearby.0
