Got everything crossed for all of us ladies xXx
  • Yup Chelbel it looks like I spoke too soon!

We have booked directly with British Airways and arranged the accommodation seperately through Destinology, and saved over £5k between the 8 of us. I guess thats the risk you take of not going through a travel agent or going on a package deal. So we can move the flights with BA and I must admit Destinology have said they will do everything in their power to help with the accommodation (We might have to pay again depends on what the resort says), but until we know exactly whats happening we can't do anything! It's just so fustrating!

This was meant to be a stress free wedding:rotfl:
Right now I'm having amnesia and deja- vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before
  • Sparkle could you start to map out an over-land route? Even if you never needed it, you will feel a little bit less out of control?

I have looked at getting to Southern Europe to fly to the Caribbean, but my flight route would then be via the USA, Barbados and finally St Lucia, and I'd probably need to leave tomorrow!!!! Plus it would bankrupt us but I felt better trying to work out the logistics!

  • Hi peeps,

I know it is a sporadic situation, but I have just seen two planes flying over me in Essex at altitude - so hopefully that is a glimmer of hope things are getting better xxxx

  • Hi, If you really want to get there, I wouldn't rely on British Transport.
The ironic thing is that Every country in Europe is flying over the UK towards the west such as USA, Carribean, Brazil, except for us.

Best thing to do is book on Lufthansa, They are as we speak, flying out in convoy to america and have been doing all morning. Along with KLM, if you see a Contrail in the Sky it will be one of them.
All those projected forecasts are nothing to what is really there, I.E pretty much nothing.

they can fly over because they've reached altitude above the ash cloud before they've entered UK airspace.

the reason UK airspace is affected is that the planes leaving have to go through the ash cloud before they get to crusing altitude therefore have a risk of things going wrong.

i know this is a pain the butt for everyone (my OH parents were supposed to be visiting last weekend and we had to cancel everything and spent a very frustrating friday trying to get any information from easyjet as the flight wasn't showing on the flight checker page) but they're only making sure that no flights and therefore no passengers are at risk
