Read THIS - I wouldn't be at all happy with the situation. All sorts of potential pitfalls.

    Interesting - especially this
If a dealer does this, then under the terms of his franchise contract with the manufacturer (which enables him to represent the brand with a showroom) he should run a pre-registered car as a demonstrator for 3-6mths (term depends on brand and his contract) before re-selling it. This clause is there specifically to stop franchised dealers from selling new stock too cheap, too soon, and ultimately ‘de-valuing’ the brand.

Explains why the Skoda Fabia I currently have as a courtesy car is advertised on the dealer's website for sale from the second it turns 3 months old :D
  • I bought a new Scirocco through http://www.uknewcars.com/ earlier this year. The broker fee is paid by the dealer which I found attractive. Excellent trouble free process and I saved 8% which was the best available at the time.

Hi all - lots of good advice there so thanks.

The Broadspeed price is far better than the What Car target price or drivethedeal, so would be going for that route if I proceeded.

If I bought from UK Car broker, is there some sort of contract I sign saying the car transfers to me after 3-6 months? The way I see it, you can sign up for the deal but there is no guarantee that they will transfer the registration over to me. Essentially, I could be on the hook for a finance deal and never get a car out of it

Just found out that the same would apply through Broadspeed...I thought they put you in touch with a dealer, but obviously not :(

My experience with Broadspeed was that they supplied details of a dealer to go and visit, with a price arranged on-line. I didn't have to commit to buy until I discussed the car with the deal in person.
