Ah but by saying the company is crap, you're saying that all posties are crap at their jobs, some find that offensive. However, if you were to say that RM is a crap company to work for, I would agree. If you were to say their procedures were crap, I would agree. Customer Service are normally following these procedures when u find them most unhelpful on the phone.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0

Don't know if they're cr*p or not, but I must have received thousands, maybe tens or hundreds of thousands, of letters they haven't lost.0

But RM are still cr4p.
In my experience they've always been very good. However bad you think they may be, other couriers are much worse imho.If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -
Ok guys, I have said this before, but I shall reiterate...
On Friday when it hadn't turned up by 1pm, I contacted Royal mail and the first question I asked the guy was whether the special delivery mail was flown from West Midlands to Glasgow, and he said no, it was driven up.
It appears that this information told to me was incorrect as the overwhelming opinion from people who are commenting on this post and seem to be in the know is that special delivery mail is flown up. Since this is most likely the case then I accept that this is completely out of the control of Royal Mail, so I'm not expecting any compensation/executions etc. My grievance was based on the assumption that there were no acts of God hampering the transport of my mail.
To resolve my story, I checked the online tracker this morning to see that they had apparently tried to deliver at 8:30am, but had not left a calling card which was a little naughty. I went down to my post office collection depot and finally managed to get my parcel (Hurrah!). I asked why the chap hadn't left a 'sorry we missed you card' with a reference number on it, and he said that the driver didn't have time to leave cards. Thought that was a little bit off, but I don't want to open a whole new can of worms!
Anyway, I think we can close this post as grounded flights due to the angry Volcano Gods of Iceland spewing igneous ash into our airspace is an acceptable reason for failing to meet a guaranteed delivery!
Thanks to all the Postie (both ex & current) comments - knowing the full story makes a difference rather than being told the wrong thing and then getting angry about it!
Cheers,

don't think he means your response but the response of the person in the depot, think he's asking if you are in a block/flat with a shared stairs?0
-
