    Sounds like you've done the correct thing and good luck. Personally I wouldn't hold my breath but keep on going at it and I'm sure you will get there eventually. :)

    Section 154 of the Road Traffic Act states that you are entitled to the details of the third party to make a civil claim against them for the damage to your vehicle. That's CIVIL law, not criminal, and sadly a lot of police desk staff don't seem to know the difference.. You normally have to put that in writing to the police else they will attempt to charge you for a police report. That is, of course, if they know who that person was.

    If they don't, and you don't have the reg of the third party vehicle, you're pretty stuffed.

    Do you know the reg? If so, PM it to me and I'll get the insurer details for you in the morning.
