Hi
My 10 year old Beetle has just failed its MOT due to high omissions. Is this likely to be an expensive job? I just need it to pass the MOT as I am trading it in for a new one in a months time. Gutted!
Any advice welcome
Thanks

Omissions? They left something out? :rotfl:
Emissions could be anything really - did they explain HOW it failed on emissions? I.e too much oxygen, co2 etc etc.....
I've only ever had a car fail on emissions once and it was solved by replacing the air filter - when was the car last serviced?Proud of who, and what, I am. :female::male::cool:0 -
Emissions.
Do you ever use fuel-treatment? In my limited understanding this will clean some of the gunk out of the engine and may reduce emissions to a level where the car would pass the MOT.

Oooops sorry thought it didnt look right!!! girly moment!
Ive only had the car a year and it had a new MOT on it so no haven't had it serviced since buying it. It runs well but seems to be "missing" a bit. I will just go and have look at the test results and get back to you
thanks0 -
I'm asssuming btw, that this is a "modern" beetle, and not a proper one imported from Mexico.....Proud of who, and what, I am. :female::male::cool:0

Have to say, I do prefer my engines in the front.
If its excess CO2 then the car is running too rich, I'd be inclined to whack some additive in and change the air filter....Proud of who, and what, I am. :female::male::cool:0 -
Thanks for your help. Will get DH on the case this weekend.

speaking from experience, a new lambda sensor on the exhaust manifold will fix the hydrocarbon content0 -
