Failed MOT - Omissions

Hi

My 10 year old Beetle has just failed its MOT due to high omissions. Is this likely to be an expensive job? I just need it to pass the MOT as I am trading it in for a new one in a months time. Gutted!

Any advice welcome

Thanks

Omissions? They left something out? :rotfl:

Emissions could be anything really - did they explain HOW it failed on emissions? I.e too much oxygen, co2 etc etc.....

I've only ever had a car fail on emissions once and it was solved by replacing the air filter - when was the car last serviced?

  • Emissions.

Do you ever use fuel-treatment? In my limited understanding this will clean some of the gunk out of the engine and may reduce emissions to a level where the car would pass the MOT.

Oooops sorry thought it didnt look right!!! girly moment! :o

Ive only had the car a year and it had a new MOT on it so no haven't had it serviced since buying it. It runs well but seems to be "missing" a bit. I will just go and have look at the test results and get back to you

    thanks

I'm asssuming btw, that this is a "modern" beetle, and not a proper one imported from Mexico..... :D

Now Now no need for that!!

Yes it is a modern Beetle. Was the proud owner of 2 "proper" ones imported from Mexico many moons ago and they both died on me big time!

Have to say, I do prefer my engines in the front. :p

If its excess CO2 then the car is running too rich, I'd be inclined to whack some additive in and change the air filter....

speaking from experience, a new lambda sensor on the exhaust manifold will fix the hydrocarbon content :)
