Buying trees for firewood

Hello everyone,
I am in Yorkshire, and last year I had a Hunter 14 boiler stove fitted in my house which is coupled via a neutraliser to my gas boiler. The stove is fantastic: tons of hot water and keeps my old house lovely and warm.
I have the facilities to convert big pieces of timber into firewood, and I wonder if anyone knows if it is possible to buy timber "in the round"? Lots of companies sell firewood that is already cut and chopped into logs, but I am after some tree trunks and large branches. Maybe a large load of 15 tonnes or so.
Thanks for any help or advice.
Kind regards,
David

You could try Dave Pickles, based in Flockton, near Wakefield. He's a haulier, but may be able to supply. It would be a minimum order of 20-25 tons. His number's 01924 848348. Failing that, try UPM Tilhill - I don't know their number, but they're a nationwide company, so shouldn't be too hard to find. They were delivering firewood quality hardwood for £45 / ton last season.
Might be best to make sure you know exactly what you're asking for, and you've enough space for the lorry to get in and out and unload. A typical 25 ton delivery of 2.5 m lengths would give you a stack 2m high and could be up to 10 m long.0 -

Hi David,
Just wondering if you had any look buying the firewood? I'm in a similar position to you.

Why not ring around any tree surgeons or possible local council parks department I doubt you will get wood for free though0
