Airport Tax. Nothing you can do?

Hi there,
Im just about to book a flight in September (ages away) with AerLingus from Heathrow to Dublin return. Flights are free but it says I have to pay a total of £75 tax?????????

Thats huge.

Is there anything we can do or is that just the way it is?

    Does the £75 include the card fee? or have you got a visa electron card?

    that's just the way it is.It looks like the age of cheap flights is well and truly over especially after this weeks volcanic stoppage, the airlines are going to be more cash hungry than ever.

    Hi Richard,

    I havent bought it yet but I shall use a VISA debit card

    I know Heathrows taxes are quite large but this is huuuuuuge. on a free flight as well :eek:

    You'll pay a card fee then.

    BTW in the good old days before competition from ryanbusair a return from Heathrow to Dublin started at £250.

    Indeed, I remember someone calling it the most expensive sea to cross by plane in the world.

    I booked 4 people Belfast to London stansted total inc tax £40 for end of June. Heathrow is overrated.

    The £75 isn't just 'tax' but includes airport charges, security fees and probably a few other things as well
