Hope you all stay well Newgirly, think we're all going to be having a quiet Christmas aren't we.
    June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!
  • I have no intention of having a quiet Christmas. I plan on being loud enough for everyone not with me.

I don't understand people who think it's not covid without a test either. We don't need to lose anyone else.

    😂 Go for it KP!

Hi Cath, it does seem to be that way again this year. I just wish they would make an announcement ASAP, surely they must have an idea of what’s happening in the next few days at least.

Ds2 had a negative test on Saturday, still isolating until Xmas eve night as that’s what track and trace told him to do. Think his fiancée is getting bored as uni has finished and she’s stuck with me 😂 we do have her family dog for the week though, so she’s entertaining us wearing her various Xmas outfits.

  • Hi Newgirly, sorry to hear about DS, but glad to hear you had a great time at the HP event. Fingers crossed that the rest of you don’t come down with it.

I work in central London and so many people are covid positive in my office (we also were ‘encouraged’ to keep going in.). I am LFT daily as it’s very likely I picked it up. Niece age 5 (London commuter town) also is positive.

Hi Cornish mum, sorry you have to still go in it seems a bit daft right now 😱 fingers crossed you stay safe until this wave is over. If everyone wore masks on the tube/trains it might help though, Dd was pushed off a train when getting on a few months ago (wearing a mask) by a man NOT wearing a mask as he said the train was too busy, she said it was actually not full with seats available.

Well Ds2’s fiancée tested positive the other night, luckily she did a pcr a few days earlier so that’s cut he quarantine by a couple of days as it starts from then. She is due for release on the 27th, although it seems that may now have changed to three days earlier IF she tests negative early, it’s hard to keep up 😆 ds1 planned on just extending his quarantine to match hers as they are now on the same room together. Young love! I would want to be quarantined well away from dh if we both got it 😂

Ive an Aldi food collection tomorrow night with the full Xmas she bang, but I’ve also now booked an Iceland delivery for the same day, with basically a frozen easy to cook Xmas dinner incase I test positive and dh has to cook! Xmas dinner? No probs apparently, even though he’s never attempted cooking much more than something in a frying pan 😂 I guess I should cancel the Aldi collection even though I could do with some stuff still, it just feels mean taking up a slot near Xmas when there’s so much Covid.

  • Hi Newgirly I’m with you on the quarantine I’d want a room on my own and not with hubby. I picture myself in our bedroom lovely comfy bed and on suite. Having meals delivered. However in reality I’d be waiting hours for a drink and starving. Good for the diet I suppose.
No one would be able to cook Christmas dinner if I was unwell. They probably would have something else.
I remember it was entertaining when I was ill in bed with chemo and sent him off shopping with a list. I always had a few calls. In the end I got a delivery every couple of weeks.
Anyway hope you don’t catch it and your family recover soon. xx

I’m not he only one then 😂 hope you are fully recovered now MMP. Still testing negative and feeling hopeful (perhaps I shouldn’t tempt fate).
Cancelled all food shops as mum said if we are still negative the three (dh and ds1 incl) can go Xmas day If ds2  and fiancé are out and clear and doing their own thing with her family. I’ve popped to Tesco and got lots of veg and a few bits so of we are in isolation we can have dinner still.

More importantly I’ve ordered a five pack of flat white coffee pods from Amazon, so I’m happy now for Xmas 😬 plenty of tv, cheese and chocolate. I’ve even bought a tv mag for Xmas, was going to buy radi@ times as it’s traditional but £5.25 😱 so I got a cheapy version 😂

Just tried to start up  Geraldine and she won’t  ☹️ I think I may have flattened the battery again like I did last year,  I had to replace it so I’m hoping it will just jump start, I shan’t be popular but in winter the bmw has heated seats 🙄

Might attempt a go at Jack Monroe’s melting cheese and bread ball recipe I spotted on her Twitter last night, looks like one of the fancy ones you get at Xmas from M&S and Aldi , although it probably won’t look like that when I make it 😁 I’m trying to feel festive even though it’s a bit blugh this year, last night I did my Xmas nails (cerise pink glitter if you are interested 😂) whilst watching Die hard on dds Disney account which rather brilliantly we could watch with her in another house and ds2 isolating, plus you can put little emojis on screen while you watch together, fantastic, I feel ancient already as these things are so run of the mill to the kids but amazing to me 😁

Off for a walk now and going to drop some presents off on doorsteps, then hopefully back to check the finances and see how little is left if anything of the £20 a day budget for the rest of the year!

I hope everyone had a good Christmas Day 🙂 we managed to stay negative so went to my parents, sadly ds2 and fiancée are still isolating and so now dd won’t come over today ☹️.
We did visit the in-laws and took tests, they didn’t need to take them as they felt fine so there was no point 😡 eventually they did on the doorstep when dh refused to come in otherwise 😂

Quiet day planned now I think, ds1 is going to football for his first outing in a couple of weeks, so just dh and I and the prisoners to wait on 😆 dh very kindly went way over our £100 Xmas spending limit and bought me an appl@ watch (pleased but slightly cross 😆) anyway I’ve not opened it up as I want to check I like the colour first, he bought white which I will probably keep but want to be sure as I will wear it like my old Fitbit 24 hours a day.

Looks like it might be a day of watching tv and making plans for next year, hooray! We have run over the £1500 budget for everything which started on 18th October until the end of the year, £14.84 over so far, although we can probably manage on what we have until he end! So close to target how annoying, however I could have spent so much more without the challenge.

Hi KP hope you had a good Xmas, I am more pleased than cross about the watch 😆 I did keep the white colour finally after thinking about it for two days!

Very lazy day today, eating chocolate and cheese, drinking tea and watching tv 😬
