Thanks, having a quick cuppa after lots of walking
the train took just under 2 hours from kings cross and felt a lot quicker than that even. I have found the most amazing Xmas shop ever, even better than the one in Bruges, although just as expensive, I shall be taking dh back tomorrow for a proper look incase he wishes to buy me something

Ooh, yes, that shop is amazing! They have the same chain in Germany, where things seem a bit cheaper, but it's still not cheap! Enjoy!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

The Xmas shop is massive, apparently it's the only one in the country and opened last year , I'll be back again just to go there
Great day yesterday, went the e Jorvik centre and york minster, bought some nice tea for Dd for her birthday from Betty's tea rooms (tea is on her birthday list - strange 19 year old!) today we will check out then go for a boat trip, followed by the Xmas shop to finally buy something and maybe back in york minster if time as the tickets are valid for a year, then the train back at 2.30 pm.
It's been a great couple of days, so far I've not spent too much as dh has some spending money too, £28 on cocktails at the cosy club - amazing place in a converted cinema where you can play board games while you drink, plus lunch one day in the most haunted pub in york :eek:MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Sounds like a good weekend, though I cannot see the Christmas shop fascination. It's April for goodness sake. :rotfl:2018 totals:

Your York adventure sounds super. I loved Betty's tearoom last time I went. Is the Jorvik centre suitable for a 5 year old?MFW 91 op 2014 £410/1000

It's only 239 days now
Hi cookie9, it would be fine for a 5 year old, you hop in a very slow ride pod and it winds its way round an authentic Viking village with moving people and lifelike "smells" while you get a running commentary, it's probably about 10-15 mins long ish then there is a room with artefacts at the end, so a short enough to not get bored
Back home now, but we had another good day yesterday. A trip to the Xmas shop where dh coughed up to buy me and mum a tree decoration :xmastree: then we bought some fudge for the kids, another trip to york minster. Plus a good result buying some birthday cards- it sounds a bit random but clintons there were selling all cards for £1 for the day, so I had to buy 19  really fancy ones I never normally get , plus a talking dalek one for Dd, couldn't believe some were priced at £8! Who pays that for a card? Anyway I am set with very fancy cards for a while :money:
Currently avoiding cleaning and washing and am going to take ds2 to see guardians of the galaxy at 10am before it gets insanely busy, already did and ald*shop last night so hopefully I can stay in the rest of he day and do choresMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
