It's been a busy week, so I have just done something not very thrifty at all and booked a food delivery for tomorrow night. It's not covered by the delivery plan and the earliest I could get for tomorrow was 7-8pm for £5, still I have so much to catch up on it will save time and energy, £66 spent for Easter lunch and I've already bought the booze :o

    We are having a Turkish/Mediterranean theme :

    BBQ lamb kebabs

    Veggie moussaka

    Beef lasagne

    Greek salad

    Turkish shepherd salad

Multi coloured tomato and balsamic salad

    Flatbread/houmous/tzatziki/olives

Plus a couple of desserts and ice cream :)

I need to get through a large to do list tomorrow , Saturday I will get as much of the food ready as possible as we are out to a 40th birthday party Saturday night for one of the guys at works son, it will probably be a heavy night if past experience is anything to go by  so I'm planning on making Easter Sunday as easy as it can be just incase I feel a bit green :o I think we are down to about 10 people now, but also need to fit in visits to my great aunt and uncle and the inlaws at some point.

Food and drink spends are week out of control for this month, I'm a bit scared to look

    Easter lunch sounds delicious, NG.

We're cooking for my parents-in-law, brother-in-law, his wife and their two children but just having a simple roast. Think I may skip cooking for them and turn up to yours for some brightly coloured cocktail (when in Essex... ;)) and whatever a Turkish shepherd salad is. :D

No bright cocktails here Alex, it's prosecco central :rotfl::rotfl: you are most welcome  I would have cooked a roast myself but it will take timing and concentration which I won't be up to, this way I can prep everything before and just chuck the mousakka /lasagne in the oven while dh bbqs the lamb - it's been carefully worked around hangovers ;) Hope the dinner with the inlaws goes well, extra brownie points awarded for that :D

Dd has just returned from a birthday night out in soho with a friend and two girls she doesn't know too well, the birthday girl refused to pay for her meal and drinks "as it was her birthday" Dd and one of the others split her bill and dd payed the service charge, she is now at home fuming but didn't want to make a scene at the restaurant. I feel sorry for her and annoyed she didn't refuse, but I suppose it's a life lesson. It's a shame as the friend is a nice girl but clearly very selfish, if there is one thing I can't stand it's people who don't want to pay their way!

"Wow" to that friend! I usually cover the birthday person for dinner if we go to a birthday meal or agree with people beforehand to split it so the birthday person doesn't pay, but that's with people I'm close with.

I would be appalled if someone demanded it though!!! :o

Turkish Sunday lunch sounds absolutely delicious! I have my big bro visiting this weekend so need to meal plan today for him and his gf...the grocery budget may never recover I fear :P

:rotfl: No wish to get into the Prosecco vs Champagne debate again. ;)

I read the list of food you were preparing and imagined that someone would be in the kitchen all day, preparing in advance had not crossed my mind. :o Perhaps it should have, which would have meant less time cooking.

Thanks for the brownie points, after yesterday I'm not looking forward to it in the slightest. Honestly thought about cancelling this morning but thought it would be unfair to let my son down as he is looking forward to the Easter egg hunt.

:( Re. your daughter's friend. Unfortunately, if nothing was said, she will probably expect the same treatment next year. Hope she pays for a meal out when it is your daughter's birthday.

Lunch mostly prepped yesterday, need to cook the mousakka /lasagne and kebabs later, just salads to do :) Even after a few wines last night I am still up early and ready to go, I think that always happens when you plan a lie in :rotfl:

The living room is very colourful today, we have plenty of chicks, carrot napkins and rabbit bunting :easter_os

Just realised I have not updated last months figures still, plus I think I'll pay the balance off the loan if I can find out how to do it I hink today and bump that mortgage balance right back up again :o

Hi cath, yes he took today off but will go back in tomorrow. The meal went really well, I have eaten way too much though :o

The kids and dds boyfriend and his dd are in the conservatory as we set up a spare tv and a ps2 in there so they are all playing old games they have rebought again that they used to play when they were younger, they have been playing the buzz quiz game and the simpsons for hours now, its sweet as usually the boys would be playing FIFA :D It's a bit anti social but I've closed the curtains on them to try and block them out as I'm making dh catch up watching line of duty.

Easter eggs that came into my possession today - 2

Easter eggs no longer in my possession today - 1 :o in these situations when I clearly didn't want any eggs, I think it's best to just eat them quickly to get them out of the way fast!

Hope everyone had a good weekend :)

The lady who does payroll at work for us (who I'm taking over from currently ) has put the wrong form through with dhs new tax code, his wages will be £125 short this month :( it will even out but its still a pain when I've spent plenty and we are away to York Thursday week with no spending budget! Everyone else's wages are ok though , I guess that's the main thing.

Looking at the cc online it seems the vast overspending this month up to date has been mainly on food (including booze!) not sure how really, its probably the booze that's done it :o end result is the diet has not been going so well just like the cc. So a new start this week, no more Easter eggs and wine and a new determined me :D.
