  • Hi newgirly,

Just been catching up. Sounds like you have had a good Christmas, even with the in law problems!! Look at the spending you have done now as an investment for the next year.

It sounds like your targets for next year are very stretching, so good luck with it all. I'm sure you will be suprised by what you can achieve when you put your mind to it:D

I know what you mean about savings, it has been a new thing for me to learn about to this year. Although seeing the bank give you money instead of taking it from you makes it more interesting:T:T

Good luck for next year though I'm sure you won't need it.

Thanks babysteps, I think I may be overstretching a bit this year. I've borrowed my mums camera to list some stuff on ebay soon when I've dug some stuff out, that may help a bit.
I had a delivery this morning that I ordered a few weeks ago, a little trinket box(for mum for xmas) and a cushion with the first verse of "twas the night before xmas" on it, slightly pointless now I think, I do love it though so i'll keep it for next year.
I'm staying in all day today as I don't feel well, so should be a no spend day.

oh no, not another poorly MFW! Hope you are feeling better soon. I like the new signature, makes this years goals very clear. I keep trying to get my DH to reduced his personal spends (literally for things he wants, no petrol to pay for) but he isn't too willing. Has agreed to take a drop the next few months though as he has pricey dental treatment coming up. Wonder if I can get him to stick to the lower budget long term?!?

Hi cath, my dh's personal spends are for essentials, however we seem to have a few new blue rays lately!

I'm feeling better now, not sure if it was a bug or an overdose of chocolate and baileys :o But I will be glad when its 1st jan, I'm going to cut down the alcohol and rubbish food and try and walk more.

Hope everyone had a good new year, we had a takeaway and lots of champagne (gifts from dh's customers) Today though i've decided to give up alcohol for a while, it will help with losing weight, and on my new super tight budget I really can't afford it. Wish me luck , I do love wine!
Today I have also set up and used my new neilson scanner for the first time. My dad popped round and found it most amusing and even Dh said why are you bothering with it. I shall not let their teasing deter me from getting some freebies though :D

My DH mocked my scanner too until he saw me getting real rewards. He even does the scanning voluntarily now. ;)

Happy new Year. I will also join you in giving up the booze a bit, but as i didn't drink at all between christmas and new year i am going to finish off the box of wine we opened and my open bottle of baileys first. I will then save my other bottle of baileys my mum bought me. Might get DH to put it in the loft for later in the year.

I'm glad your feeling better Michelle, I don't blame you for drinking the baileys first, I have half a large bottle in the kitchen which I need to give to my mum, or I'll fail before I've even started.
