We have bought dd's prom dress , its a MASSIVE red made to order one from china via ebay. Completely the opposite of the slimline type she was going for, its a cross between my big fat gypsy wedding and gone with the wind :rotfl: She will look stunning in it I'm sure, I have reassured her that if she does not like it we will get her another one , so fingers crossed she does! We have also ordered some red long gloves, very hollywood glamour, only problem may be getting her in a normal coach seat for the journey

Hi, nto and pinkpoppy I hope the exams are going ok for your DD's.
10p OP today, no surveys. I've made some washing gloop this morning that should last for a couple of weeks, and had a nsd yesterday and probably today as well.
I'm wondering whether to forget the garden makeover budget for this year as we are saving to do the loft (or op or move) Maybe I should stick to one thing at a time and keep home improvemants to a lick of paint this year, as costs always do seem to spiral and I could really make do a bit longer and re-stain the decking we have and grow a few bits in pots. I can redirect everything to savings and op's then.
A bit more money should be coming my way next week as I bought a nice bag reduced for myself for xmas and then decided to ebay it,as I don't really need it, but my aunt has been trying to get hold of one almost the same so she said she will buy it off me. Can't remember what I paid , probably £20 or so. A bit extra for me and a bargin for her as they are more like £40 now.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
15p survey done, op to be made when I check accts but probably 10p
We have got a number to contact a tutor for dd to help before her exams in the summer, not sure how much she charges but I think its about £20 ph, so the op's will have to drop by the same amount for a few months.
Not sure what we are doing today, dh is not one for walks etc. so its sometimes hard to find things nearby to do for a couple of hours to get out the house except cinema/shopping which I would rather avoid. It would be nice to get a bit more active as a family but they are all so resistantI think it's that time of year, a long way from summer still!

Well, it's not been the best day today
Seems like dh is getting worse again. He was fine over xmas and new year now he is back to work properly and all the staff are back in too, things are worse again, however I am the reason for his stress
Oh well, I shall just get on with things and cheer myself up with wine, crisps and dancing on ice
I've been stewing over a few ideas for a business for months (well years actually :rotfl:) Its time I started my own business, I did once start a successful soft play toddler group with a friend when the twins were little , but it was not financially worth the hours in the end, more pocket money than wages. The idea that seems the most realistic in terms of initial investment and family commitments is cleaning, its something I've done in the past to help a friend out, but I was thinking of doing domestic and office/business cleaning as well. My best friend is keen to start a business however I'm not sure she would go for cleaning.
I think I need to do a lot more research and have a chat with her. But I do feel its time for a new challenge.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
We have a little snow this morning, enough to take pity on dd and give her a lift! The boys however prefer to walk in their short sleeve shirts and blazers :snow_grin They will be blue by the time they arrive.
83p Op today and no surveys around at the moment.
The heating was off when we woke up and it was FREEZING, I put it on for an hour but now they have all gone I have switched it off again, so am sat in layer upon layer, I need to send a meter reading for the switch over , I'm a bit worried as its been on a lot more over xmas and new year, and we were already owing a bit before that.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
I have just switched my Gas/Electric too, I was amazed when I saw a graph of our electricity useage over the past few months its gone through the roof, I need to have a word with my 2 x DS about leaving things on charge all night when they dont need charging up.
Hope your DH is ok? My DH is unhappy in his work, mainly because he is away from Monday through to Friday and he hates leaving on Monday morning, sometimes its bes just not to say anything when they are having a moan, cos you usually get blamed for something somewhere along the lineEmergency Savings Fund - £11002015 Mortgage overpayments = £0 -
Hi missoptimistic, thanks for posting. He's slightly better today, but I don't think things are going to improve much with work this year.:(
It must be tough for your dh being away most of the week.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
25p vo survey, £2 op today
Not much to write about at the moment, but I like to keep up with the diary or I would soon get distracted buying stuff instead
Have been eating innocent veg pots for dinner lately a they were on offer in mr t and I thought they would help me start the diet(not working too well though!) , so now have a few nice microwaveable pots, so shall make a few different meals in them to freeze.
Will pop back in later when the dreaded meter readings have been done so I can complete the switch over. Have been avoiding this as I'm a bit scared how much we will owe :eek:MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Bad news with the meter readings. We are around £480 ish short that I have to find. We have gone from using £1.51 a day in electric march to end oct. To using £5.78 a day from 1st nov to today. I'm very confused and have worked out the figures myself and checked with npower twice and it is correct!
The only new thing is dh's 2x new work computers and the heated airer, however the airer is supposed to be less than 5p ph and I have stopped using the dryer completely so must be saving us money. The kids are having extremely long showers which has been causing a lot of door banging and shouting on my part recently, so I have told them to stop that or no theme park days out this year.
Its jut so frustrating , I would'nt mind if I hadn't been sat flipping freezing for the last few months with the heating off all day. Its not fair!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Ah no! That must be a real blow
I noticed that our electric consumption has risen steeply these last few months, but it coincides with DH working away, the boys are spending much more time upstairs on their consoles etc, as there is now only one parent to go around so to speak, and sadly I am often busy and so leave them to it, but I've just introduced 2 'techno free' nights to try and help out!
How's the one poll going? I'm finding that I'm lucky to make 10p every other day or so, at this rate I will see 40 (11 months away) before I see £40 :rotfl:Emergency Savings Fund - £11002015 Mortgage overpayments = £0
