Toilet still in, bath swapped , basin about to come out. House an absolute tip and filthy!

The drawers in the conservatory had collapsed, so tons of paperwork everywhere, plus all the new bathroom stuff. Today I have been starting to sort through the papers and found stuff going back years! Last mortgage rate before this 5.79% rising to 7.5% after the fix.

Re-mortage papers showing we borrowed an extra 29K on top of the mortgage when we re-mortaged about 4 yrs ago. Must have been for debt consolidation
I told dh this and he said we are in the same situation now which annoyed me, we are paying off the mortgage and debts by something like 16K or so in the last year, before all this we were getting into debt by slightly more than that per year.

It must feel the same to him, not a lot in wallet = no money. I have explained many many times how well we are doing, that we choose to overpay, not stuggle to pay the minimums. Oh well, thank goodness for mse, or i might think whats the point sometimes.;)

Still thinking about the targets for michelles xmas challenge.

I did ring the mortgage co. about getting out of the fix early to try and go for a long term fix that chelsea have at the moment, but the earliest is end of feb, I can't see that being around still then.
The best idea might be to stay IO but on a long term fix so we can stop paying and save for the loft if needs be.

As for moving, we should wait until the kids are about to set off really, then we could live some where slightly more countryside, but still close by, and would hopefully have paid the mortgage off by then.

Update:water now poring through the kitchen ceiling, don't think its going to well upstairs.:(

Oh no. Get the water turned off before you need a new kitchen ceiling. DH did that here when he took the old radiator off in the old bathroom when he started stripping it. What a pain.

Not too much of a disaster in the end, just a small mistake! our Kitchen ceiling is very bad anyway due to many leaks and kids showers with the curtain on the outside if the bath.

Its dh's birthday tomorrow, but he will have to carry on, he does want to go to the harvester for dinner but I have no money allocated for it, I think I shall have to find the money as he has earned it.

I took my brother and mums missing cat to the vet today and he needs half his tail amputating as its broken poor thing , he won't go in until next week so is back home, I had to pay the bill as my parents are away, £108 for a consultation, blood test and some laxatives, £44 was just for a consultation, very steep.

More money spent today, I have just spent £110 on a pine bookcase and dresser from the charity shop around the corner.
I have been trying to get a dresser on ebay for ages but they always go for too much near me. I am doing well clearing out the conservatory and now will have somewhere to put all the paperwork and video games, when they get delivered tomorrow.

MIL is popping over as its dh's birthday today , and i've asked her to cut the boys hair rather than the hairdresser doing it, she is a hairdresser, but more of an old lady style one. I hope she does it ok or they will not be happy starting a new school with dodgy haircut!

  • Worry if she asks you if she can borrow a bowl. ;)

The poor cat. Presumably you will get money spent at the vets back, but I bet that makes it tight now.

Ha ha , she is cutting right now, but no bowl in sight :D

I will get the money back from the vets bill, but unfortunatly the bank had taken the money out of my current acct to pay the cc bill, but it hadn't shown as cleared on the cc  So I had to use the current acct, which is rather sparse.

Anyway end result is due to money winging its way very slowly from another acct, i am £25 away from the limit on the OD.

There is nothing else to come out for the next few days so I shall take a chance, and hope I have correctly written down all my spends this week.

I can't wait until next june when the final payment is made on the 0% CC, and the only debt left is the mortgage, I have never in my life had any proper savings that were not massively outweighed by debts.

I am feeling a bit guilty as it's the school holidays but the kids have been indoors for the last 2 weeks or so. I have sai we will stop work on sunday afternoon come what may and go to the cinema. I promised dd I would take her to see the inbetweeners.

Feeling pleased with how much has been done tidying up wise, today, the bathroom is not much further on but my knight in shing armour (dad ) has arranged for a builder he knows to come and finish off what is not done on monday when dh goes back to work, which at the moment is almost everything

The whole house is a tip the front garden looks like the local dump, but the living / dining room and conservatory are perfect! :j I currently have candles lit round the fireplace and not a single thing out of place , its been a long time coming but its great. The new dresser from the charity shop is lovely and matches our other stuff well, when they delivered it they also collected a glass ikea display unit which we donated, so some clutter cleared as well.

We have tomorrow left to continue work on the bathroom as dh has said he is having sunday off come what may. I do feel a bit bad as he is always at work and has only had about 9 days off this year.

Last year i booked a newspaper £10 hotel deal through the paper and we went to bury st edmonds for 2 nights, it was a nice hotel although breakfast was quite a bit extra , but the weekend we went was a victorian themed xmas market in the town which was fab. Anyway I've looked it up and for 1 night for 2 plus breakfast the same weekend this year is £68 plus £12 cashback. I am very tempted to do it as a surprise for dh, as we cancelled our holiday to the isle of wight this week to do the bathroom.

Hooray! It sounds like you're really seeing progress. You guys definitely should book that holiday-ette - you deserve it! Especially as you cancelled the real holiday :)

Thanks sepa 74, I would love to just book it, but had better wait and see how much the bathroom ends up costing.

I am up at silly o'clock as dh told the boys he would take them to a boot sale and ds1 set his alarm for 5am and woke the whole house. Its way too early on a sunday!

Thinking of the xmas challenge i have joined mr t diets online, buy 2 months get one free plus cashback, so spending, but in an mse way. If it works I won't have to buy lots of new winter clothes. Last time I dieted about 3 years ago I lost nearly 2 stone and did it with no help from books or clubs, but this time I cannot get going, hopefully this will help, I have 1 stone 11 lb to lose
