I think the mini break sounds like a fab idea and just what you need especially as your DH seems to work so much.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0

Good luck with the diet. I keep thinking I should join something but am too tight to spend the money:rotfl:0

I have decided to see how the budget goes with the night away, its not just the hotel cost its the dinner out as well. Maybe if by the beginning of nov. if the finances are on an even keel and I have lost say 1 stone, it could be a good reward.;)
The bathroom is now a shell with a toilet and and plumbed in but not fitted in properly yet. My dad has arranged for his builder to come round starting today and finish it at his cost, which is very kind. So its fingers crossed the guy turns up as he sometimes does'nt.
I shall have to take the kids out I think and let him get on with it, so will take them to the shopping centre and try and get some name tags. 2x senior school uniforms with numerous football/rugby/pe kits and I have not even started with sewing on badges and naming. They all go back on weds, its will be so strange having no school run anymore, I will have to make an effort to be sociable and get out and about a bit as I will miss having a chat in the mornings.I will start by walking the dog a lot more as it will help with the diet as well.
I was naughty yesterday as had a veggie burger and fries with dd before we went to see the inbetweeners, both food and film was good though.:D
Dh and I had a chat (or I did!) and showd him the "this much I know" op calculator, filled with my projections for saving for the loft which should take from jan 2012 - dec 2013, and then oping our end date should be august 2021. With no loft savings it will be around nov 2019. So 1 year and 8 months difference.
We will probably change our minds fifty times before then but we will definatly save instead of op now, and I will copy michelle's "what I owe the world " way of showing the figures , at least the numbers will keep dropping for a while. I just need to decide if and of my acct's have good rates or if I need to open another one.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Well, the builder did not show up yesterday, he rang and said he will be here today, but apparently he does'nt start before 11 ish
I am trying to not let it all stress me out , as I am starting to feel quite nervous about he boys first day of their new school tomorrow. DS 2 is still without a school rugby shirt which was ordered 4 weeks ago, I queued for an hour for them to say they don't know how long it will be , so he will have to take a note from me in as they are quite strict the first week on missing uniform/equipment and hand out detentions to the new ones.
DD imformed me last night her shoes are full of holes, so now we will have to go get some today, talk about last minute, and still no uniform ironed or names on. I can't wait until everything is sorted school wise and the bathroom is finished, its a pain going round my parents everyday to shower us all.
Summer is definatly gone here, its pouring and quite cold, I will have to start thinking about keeping an eye on the gas / elec usage so it does'nt get out of hand.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
I hope the builder has turned up by now. Weather is dreadful isn't it - I also need to keep an eye on my gas/elec usage as I am in debit with them anyway and although my DD will need to go up I hope it's not by too much. Hoping for a mild winter as I will have a newborn to keep warm.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0

The builders did turn up yesterday, not today yet though. They have put board up to tile on (so dh wasted days scraping off plaster  )as they could not in touch with either of us to check. Anyway they are supposed to be tiling today, we have gone for a medium sized white ripple tile, in a brick work style, plus I have bought a box of black/slate/chrome type mosaics. which will go over the basin and in a stripe through where the shower will go in the bath.
The boys have gone off for their first day of school, dd is sat watching willy wonka with some frinds who have turned up as they all have a late start.
Diet wise all is not going too badly , except for an over budget packet of crisps and 2x choc. mousses yesteday:o , had a sneaky look on the scales and have lots a few pounds, just need to be good until weigh in on friday.
I have had £1.87 on tcb so have op'd £2 off the mortgage, hardly worth it but I can't not overpay anything at all while I clear the cc and then start to save , it just does'nt feel right.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
The boys seem to have had a good day at their new school today, which is a relief. Its going to take time to settle in properly , its such a big change.
Bathroom is making slow but steady progress, shower half plumbed in ! I will be SO glad when its all over, I hate having workmen in ( sorry to any workmen out there)
Mums cat has had his broken tail shortened and 2x teeth removed today, just under £500 , i was supposed to collect him this afternoon but he was not ready , so my mum was getting him later. Good job as they refused to let mum pay tomorrow and it would have been tricky for me to cover the cost.
I have agreed to dd having a halloween party this year, we had a big one 3 years ago, about 65 people at our house which was sooo good, everyone but 1 person dressed up. However much I am tempted to repeat it, I've decided to just have a kids party as we have lots of decorations and halloween toot already and with just some party food and soft drinks it should be fairly cheap.
DD had already found a vintage wedding dress on ebay she is bidding on for us to ruin in a "carrie" stephen king style.:rotfl:MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Still managing to muddle through moneywise this month, dh is supposed to be taking away this years payrise for himself and all the staff, to protect them from making a loss next year, but it will not come into effect this month so i have an extra £68 , which got spent yesterday in mr s on food as i can't use the cc until the 10th or 11th.
The diet has been going ok, 3.5 lb lost this week, it could have been more if I hadn't eaten a lot last night before I weighed in this morning. Tonight I have all the family round for an indian takeaway, which I shall be fully enjoying as i have the rest of the week to be good before the next weigh in.:D
Trying to get to payout on my aa credit card points, I have almost enough to redeem for a £30 boots voucher , plus I got one the other day from VO, so will have £40 to buy some 3 for 2's this xmas.
Determined to get sorted by the end of nov this year.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Well done on the weight loss, that's great. I'm trying to push for payout on surveys etc at the moment aswell - money seems so tight at the moment and Christmas is just around the corner.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0

I have had a weekend of eating and spending so far this weekend, indian takeaway yesterday, oops.
A lazy day so far, I have got all our old halloween decorations down from the loft to see how much new stuff we need to buy, and its not too much , around £20 worth of spooky scene setters to replace ones that are ripped. I also ordered dd a mad hatters dress and hat for £27.99 as we got outbid on the wedding dress she was after. I am hoping that the food and drink will be under £50. So my extra mini challenge for this month as ( as well as finish the bathroom ) is to buy everything but the frozen food for next month, as it can be strored outside in the log cabin anyway.
No surveys today, I have been very lazy with that side of things lately, plus I need to do quite a few hours work for dh today or tomorrow.
Bulk cooking in the sc is going well at the moment, I have managed to freeze around 8 or 9 portions of various meals this week for me and dh. The kids are so fussy though they don't eat those type of meals, so still cooking for them but it will make things easier and save some time and hopfully money in the long run.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0
