My mum moved out of her flat and left it empty - no TV, no nothing - the amount of letters TV licensing sent to her was ridiculuos. I called them, e-mailed etc and still she got letters. She even had a hand written note pushed through the letterbox from a 'TV licensing inspector'. In the end she wrote on the back of one of the letters that she would welcome the opportunity to show them her invisible tv.
Eventually she sold the flat so the problem stopped - perhaps the new owner now gets the letters!0 -

Yeh but Sky is voluntary - the BBC isn't. I have Sky and can honesty say I do not watch anything on BBC1 or 2 - why then should I have to pay £11 a month for the priviledge?0 -

I mean its not like the BBC is still what it was originally set up to be - i.e. a national service. It should provide basic news/weather/documentary and thats it. I'm not interested in all the digital channel offshoots, or all the tailored radio stations. I especially do not want them paying Jonathan Ross £20 million. At the end of the day its just another tax to keep a load of people in employment0 -
we had a house that was empty for a year. The licensing people harrassed us constantly with letters etc in spite of our calls to their 0870 number. You could see by looking in the window that the property was empty and unfurinished. When we came to sell it, I was doing some work on the house, and an inspector rang the doorbell. I told him no-one lived there and pointed out that the house was empty. His reply was 'ah, but you'll be surprised at the lengths people go to to avoid paying a licence fee'
So I said, 'Yes, I live in a house with no furniture, no carpets and curtains so that I can cheat you of £150 and watch TV for free. Now go away' :rotfl:0
