Doing it direct would seem sensible, but I doubt they have the internal processes in to go around buying stuff directly rather than just giving a credit.
Seems like they are at least trying, and half up offer is good enough imo. And if you can afford a £170 mirror in the first place, surely you can afford to pay half in the meanwhile, even on maternity?0
