I think that means that you and at least one other person has bid on the property - who gets it will depend on how many points you both have. If they have more than you, then they will be offered it first. They may turn it down in which case it will be offered to you - or voce versa. Why not call the council and ask? I know i would.

I think you need to phone them to get a clear understanding of what it means as you don't want to miss out but not knowing.

A tip for you....if you are successful (fingers crossed for you) and upon viewing you see something you don't like...dont whatever you do turn the offer down, accept it and then battle the council afterwards. I have worked with various families in the past who turned offers down, some for such stupid reasons and it meant them having to start right back at the beginning. I don't think the old '3 offers' issue apply these days.

    Good luck

It depends from council to council. Where I live (Norwich), you can turn down however many properties you like without being penalised (they have choice-based letting system). Howver, some other councils do penalise you if you turn a property down.
I'd check with your council to find out the situation where you live.

    Bristol area.

If your bid is successful and you turn down the property without a really good reason, you are dropped a band for 6 months.

Sorry, I don't get this. Do you mean they a family should accept a property with (for example) a crap bathroom or they shouldn't?
