BE Broadband?

Moved recently and there was a BT 'stop line', so have decided to get that reconnected for £12/month as it suited our needs best with the international and mobile weekend calls.
Now looking at our broadband options. Am always wary of a low download limit just in case. Can anyone share any experiences of BE's £7.50/month deal (40 GB download, 8MBps)
Thanks in advance.

Many thanks for your helpful reply. Had seen the o2 deal but unfortunately not an o2 customer, so BE it will have to be!0

It still might be worth looking at O2 - you can get the discount with an O2 pay as you go phone - you just have to top up £10 every 3 months.
Even if you just get a SIM and do the top-ups you still save money, I think it's still £20 cheaper over a year... But of course, it is then £40 more than BE Value over a year too.
40GB is not too bad of a limit though... I think some of the harsher "unlimited" fair use policies kick in around the 50GB to 80GB mark anyway.0 -
Do have a look through my Be/o2 features comparison - link below - Be Un Limited & o2 home broadband are just brands of Telefonica Europe in the UK - and they share the same LLU network (o2 "Access" is just a resold BTwholesale ADSLmax product which cannot be whole heartedly recommended as both Be/o2's LLU packages can - subject to your needs/priorities/budget).
Be Value is a SUBSET of what you get via the o2 branded o2 Standard and MAY not be available beyond 27 April (so if intending to order do so before then as there is an unexplained reference to that deadline on Be's website!).
With o2's higher cashback signups and 3 months free and the ability to save money by getting an o2 mobile PAYG (EVEN IF YOU NEVER USE THE £33+ of credit you'd build up on it) it means that your first year of Be Value (with that 40GB/month cap from 1/7) would cost £50 for the first year, whereas o2 Standard £17.50-£47.50. But as has been raised above after the 1st year commitment you would be paying more for o2 Std ie £0-£3.33-£5 /month more depending on your attitude to an o2 PAYG SIM).

Whichever brand you choose you won't regret it but just be sure to sign-up being aware rather than ignorant/confused and blag the £40-£70 cashback.
And IF your line is short/quality enough then o2 Premium with upto 24Mbps down is going to be ONLY £12.50 more over the first YEAR!!!! (And you can always downgrade later to o2 Standard if you found you were happy with 8Mbps capped modem synch, data usage remains unlimited v 40GB/m on Be Value) - you MAY have ruled out the higher speed packages because Be Unlimited would be £175ish for the first year, versus just £30-60-75 with o2 Premium for that first year! DO look through my net-cost comparison spreadsheet in the link above.

I'm on BeLite at the moment paying £13 odd a month, thinking of changing to the Be Value at £7.50, what are the cashbacks MKD mentions?0

Try Quidco or TopCashBack.0
-
I found Be to be one the fastest providers I've ever used, better than 02 which should technically be the same.0

You can use a friends mobile number too0

To answer various questions by posters above, and to give an update as the cashback opportunities are very good again at the moment...
Any MoneySavingExperts on Be Lite/Value should consider moving to o2 Standard right now as the TopCashBack £back of £70 (which started today, combined with o2's offer of first 3 months free) means that your next year can be either net-profit of £2.50+ (assuming you'd use your o2 PAYG credit of £30+10% that you'd build up over that year), or cost just £27.50 even if you didn't! ie £2.29/month
When you put your # into the o2 website it should come up saying you are with Be and that you can transfer WITHOUT PENALTY (ie no notice, no needing to stay for your 1yr commitment). Just be sure to do your £back/cookies etc properly!
As for the poster who believes that Be Value delivers better/different to o2 Standard then I'm that could only be due to a temporary modem synch issue as it's the same DSLAM and the same 8Mbps capped ADSL2+ Annex A Interleaved circuit. It's just that o2 Standard comes with lots of other perks too and NO USAGE CAPS, which this year's Be Value contracts have at 40GB/month from 1/7 (I've been on o2 Standard for 2.5years).
See my comparisons/net-costs at:

There's links there to the relevant cashback opportunities.
FYI: o2 Premium with upto 24Mbps down (ie no 8Mbps modem speed cap) would be just £10-£40 for that first year's usage too, with the current £backs/free-months.
As stated above an o2 mobile # used to blag the £5/m discount on o2 home broadband can be ANYONE's # as long as it's used with their permission, and you'll need a confirmation PIN# off it to confirm that association.
