how do i go about cancelling cpw contract?
Hey everyone,
I basically have a CPW 02 contract which ends on 7th may 2010,
id like to leave 02 because they are taking a bit too long to release the htc desire for my liking, and i wanted to know how excatly i would go about this, while still being able to retain my phone number and transferring it to T mobile
I know to transfer my number i have to request my PAC code, but as well as that, do i also have to give them 30 days cancellation notice? or do i just have to give the PAC code to another provider and they take care of everything?

Just ask O2 for your pac code. Fine the deal you want on T, sign up and give them the code and they'll do the transfer (takes about 3 working days).
Once the codes use (and they only last 30 days) O2 will send you a final bill to include the 30 day notice you have to give. . .0 -
thanks for the reply,
im just a bit confused, if i get the pac code, will 02 still bill me for May?
because id end up going to T mobile, and then i would get billed twice for that month?0 -

First Your contract DOES NOT expire on the 7th of May it changes to a 30 day rolling contract. You have just completed the mimimum term.
If you phone up now and ask for the PAC code then you will be charged until the date the code is used and potentially 30 days afterwards. So you are likely to be billed until the 14th of May from your original provider.
You can't give cancellation notice and requiest a PAC code simultaniouslyas the account has to be active for the PAC to work, however if you ask for a PAC and that is used your account is automatically closed with your prior provider. If you say you want to cancel then phone up for the PAC code, the act of requesting the PAC cancells the cancellation notice.
Also the PAC code is only valid 30 days. If you DON'T use it in that time, then it becomes invalid, and you are back in the 30 day rolling contract with your provider and potentially another 30 days payment..0 -
I have just rang cpw/02 for the zillionth time this wk asking for my PAK code after sending in written request (recorded delivery...of course!).
I actually spoke to someone polite this time, who informed me that the company are going to be changing their proceedure and finally giving PAK codes out by email!!!!!!!!!!! It might even happen TODAY!!!!
I will never have a contractd with cpw/o2 again, it has put me of contracts altogether, if I do have a contract with someone else again the first question I will ask is how easy it is to terminate the contract once you have 'served you time'!!
I shall wait and see what happens later...........they are STILL saying that they havent received my written request, hmmmm I dont think it is a good way of keeping customers and they give ab awful 'customer service/car'!!0 -

Try telling them the recorded delivery reference no, the date of signing and who by, and see how they react.0 -
Oh I did give them the recorded delivery ref etc, but they hadnt received it still (?) .................
However the true miracle of the day was that EVEN tho they hadnt received this signed, recorded letter from me, without which they couldnt possibly release my PAC code - they later sent me the PAC by text.
Now call me cynical but why didnt they do that in the first place, why do customers have to ring daily, write, email, go to the cost of extra postage (to a PO Box no. that probably doesnt get used often!!!)
I have my PAC code and will go away with a lesson learnt: its so easy to get into these things, everyone is so, so friendly and helpful; but try to get out of it and that is a different story!0
