in Water bills
OK, so the old one works, but is so rusted, that if the pilot goes out we won't be able to get it back on. Its also 25 years old.
We have a baby on the way, and have a 3 bedroom house with 8 radiators. We live in Essex. I'm pretty sure we want a combi, but beyond that, I don't know.
I'm terrified of being ripped off, so any advice, please help!! Already had a gas man round who did half a job and didn't come back when he said he would (can we name and shame on this site?)
Cheers!

Make and model of your existing boiler?
By the sound of it you would qualify for a £400 subsidy under the boiler scrappage scheme.
Get a couple of GSR registered installers (independents, not BG) around to quote. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Scrappage scheme ended now0

Scrappage scheme has gone, unfortunately.
I have been quoted £3000 for a Vaillant 831 ecotec plus combi boiler, all done, including increasing size of the pipes. Seems a lot to me!Can we just take it as read I didn't mean to offend you?0 -
Does that include 'power flushing'0

Yes, though I'm now not sure on the guy who quoted me that. Another guy quoted me about £200 more... hmmm....!Can we just take it as read I didn't mean to offend you?0

A firm near me has a sign up saying 'kombi boilers supplied and fitted for £999'. I would hope that their plumbing is better than their spelling, but I'm not convinced...No free lunch, and no free laptop0
