Got the message below from a person that may have my e-mail in her address book. Nothing against free sms, but is this for real, or just another way to get your details (mobile no, etc) and bombard you with junk/spam..?!
message:

I wouldn't signup to the sma.ac site.
Instead go to the link below. Requires no registration and it's free to send UK to UK texts:

i wouldnt advise signing up with sms.ac heard too many stories about them ripping people off, for more info check out these links...

Instead of signing up with them, i would recommend Genietexter, its is a cool free program for sending free SMS from your PC, you can find out more info about it here: http://www.genietexter.co.uk/about.php0 -
you probably got the email if someone had "recommended you" when they signed up.... BUT sms.ac are a pain in the backside. I signed up as it was the only site i could find to send texts to my sister while she was in australia HOWEVER most of the message either of us sent usually didnt get to the other person (including when she came back to the UK) AND they somehow signed me up to a dating service (which i definately didnt sign up for) through their website! I only knew about it when i started getting bombarded with texts to look at other peoples details for which they were charging me about 50p a message. Wasnt a happy bunny. AVOID THEM IF ONLY SENDING TO UK MOBILES... LOT OF OTHER & EASIER SITES AROUND!
My opinion anyway0 -
I received an email purporting to be from a trusted friend, inviting me to join SMS.ac so we could send free texts to each other. I agreed, clicked the link and have regretted it ever since. Not much happened for a few months though none of the texts I send were delivered. Now I am being bombarded daily by dating texts which are costing me about 35p each. I have emailed the company, texted them sent 'stop' messages, 'STOP NOW' messages, begged them to stop sending me unwanted texts. The result - they send me three messages at a time. One is a ringtone. I dread to think how much that has cost, and all I do is delete what comes in. My phone is a contract one and I have always had that number and do NOT want to change it, but have seriously considered ending my contract and getting rid of that number if that disposes of these horrible people.
Can someone out there tell me how to get rid of this horrible bloodsucking company?
If you are thinking of signing up for the free texts DON'T.
THAT is TRUE MONEY-SAVING advice. Martin would be proud of me.
