HTC Legend
Hi guys
Has anyone come across any good deals on the HTC Legend?
I've seen the massive thread on the Desire and as good as that phone looks I am drawn to the Legend - even more so if I can find it cheap.
Also if anyone has already got one of these phones hw do you find it??
Thanks, Helen

Used a Legend since 07/04/2010 and found it V good except the Sync with PC is ****. Installed & used Sat Nav Co-pilot 8 for >£30 so this replaces my 5 year old Tom Tom and the free apps are great especially compared to my old Symbian Nokia N95 but you do need to charge it every day.
With regards to good deals Expansys are selling it at £370 + £7 P&P but I've got a vodaphone £20/ month x 24 + free phone via web which suits me as I don't call/ text all that much, a £10/month service only was enough for me so basically I'm buying the phone for £240 + £30 for a new sat nav.....Ian0 -
The HTC Legend is a very nice piece of design and enjoyable to hold, the metal body feels durable.
From the reviews I've read the interface is still quite repsonsive despite being lower specced than the Desire. It would be the next choice for someone wanting an Android phone and finding the Desire unsuitable for whatever reason.
However, its being exclusive to Vodafone in the UK as far as contract deals are concerned is probably not going to help its sales, especially when its big brother is available on all networks.0 -
Any Legend owners out there?
Would you recommend the phone?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
I have not got one, but it is a handset I would consider, however looking at the Desire today (my mate has one) it is not big like the pics suggest and is most impressive

Had one delivered on Friday. Went for the similar deal as above Voda £20 x24 months but with £150 Quidco, drops it to almost £13 a month which suits me fine. Out of the box I was very impressed, after a few days and slowly adding apps and tweaks I'm even more so. For the price I have to say I'm fairly astounded given what people will pay instead for an iPhone to acheive roughly the same(well apart from multi-tasking out of the box)0

I was looking at either the Legend or the Desire. The Desire obviously has the spec advantage, but looks wise the Legend is a lot prettier, is a little smaller and has a little better battery.
In the end I went for the Legend for a couple of reasons.
Firstly whilst the screen and processor, the 2 areas it lags the Desire are both on their own pretty decent. I had a play with the phone and it looked good and was quick. So long as I never see the Desire and Legend sitting next to each other I figured I would be happy!
Secondly was cost and contract length related - I got the Legend on a 12 month deal from a VF store and a 12 month deal. £30, 500 texts, 300 mins, 500mb internet. I dont use many minutes so that is fine, and I love the fact it is a 12 month deal, I seem to break phones a lot so that is great. I really dont understand why anyone would buy a 24 month deal from VF on an expensive handset unless they are getting something above and beyond the published deal or something good from quidco. If you get the 12 month one the deal costs £10 more per month than the 24 month one, but then you are free after 12 months to either keep the handset and go onto something vastly cheaper like a £10 or £15 a month sim only deal saving you a lot of money over the 24 months. Say you have a Nexus One at £35 a month for 24 months - works out as £840 over 2 years - ouch. If you take it as £45 for 12 months, and then switch onto a £15 a month deal for the next 12 months, it comes in at £720 a year - still ouch but £120 less of it, plus more freedom in that last 12 months should you lose your phone or get sick of it.
Anyway - on the actual phone it is pretty fantastic. Screen is pretty and responsive, looks good, largely quick to use - sometimes the picture gallery can take a little while to go from the rough unfocused look to the sharp look on albums with a lot of pictures on them. All in all though I am soooo impressed with it as a piece of kit (yet to use it as an actual phone though).
Despite all this the phone may well be going back, but that is (mostly) VFs fault not the handsets. The sim isnt active yet so I still havent made a call on it but when I scan for networks I sometimes see VF on there, I sometimes dont. The VF website said I was OK on 2g, but we shall see. 3g doesnt seem to be there at all. Actually this sort of relates to another minor concern about the phone - its wifi. It doesnt seem to be the most receptive. There are a few places in my house, and I dont live in a big one, where the phone struggles to pick up wifi, that my laptop has no problem getting. When this is combined with a lack of 3g coverage at my house it could be annoying.
Anyway, the SIM activates tomorrow and hopefully all will go well.
If the Desire had been on the same deal as the Legend I probably would have gone for it, but it was working out £120 more expensive over the year and they had none in stock.
(As mentioned on another thread Dialaphone are doing a £30 after cashback 12 month deal on the Desire, but that would mean losing my number, which isnt something I was willing to do)
I have seen a few third party sites offer the legend on Orange, but their official site doesnt have it.0 -
looks like you havent updated your legend. a software update was released in arpil to deal with the synching issues see link http://www.htc.com/uk/supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=313&act=sd&cat=allUsed a Legend since 07/04/2010 and found it V good except the Sync with PC is ****. i am pretty sure i saw it on techradar price comparisons that the legend was also available on orange and o2 networks too as per the price comparison website deals. even i thought it was a vodafone exclusive. see techradar deals on the legend http://phonestore.techradar.com/phones/htc/legendBillScarab wrote: »Do you have a link as it's not listed on their website? for the OP, see the techradar rating the legend as number 3 phone now (number 1 rated is desire, 2 is iphone 3gs) http://www.techradar.com/news/phone-and-communications/mobile-phones/15-best-mobile-phones-in-the-world-today-645440?artc_pg=16bubblesmoney :hello:0
