:T :T :T To actually take out your own time to help that man - what a star:money: 'the man did good' as they say:beer:

Like many of us I have been in many a dark place due to debt. But worse than that, a friend of mine her husband did commit suicide due to council tax debt. Leaving her with a whole lot of problems and three children. I wish he had made one of those calls first.

Wont harp on anymore - but like the others I have been very touched tonight by Martin's kindness, as well as expertise.

It sounded great Martin & it sounded that you really cared. You told it as it is & it sounded that he could see the light at the end of the tunnel.(Hope so)
I also hope that he contacted CCCS and can also find help with the gambling.

  • Martin,

You truly are one in a million. I hope Paul did make the second call and is on the road to finding a way out.

Wow, I'm all emotional just hearing that..I hope Paul made the calls today and everything seems better than it did on the night. Martin I think you said all the right things, it was from the heart and sincere.

bumpity bump as an ex compulsive gambler i want to see this higher up in the posts. When we can all gamble from the comfort of our own homes there is bound to be a lot of problems. On line gambling----anyone else smell a large problem about to smack us around the head?
  • I think the programme reflects so many points. The feeling of helplessness and guilt that debt especially coupled with gambling.
We see Martin doing what he does best. Sharing information to help others survive (literally in this case) in the market place.
What is most admirable and moving is the care for another human being in need.
I am sure we are all proud to be associated with Martin, his site and his links to such excellent organisations which can help people such as Paul.
    Thank you Martin.

I've just listened to the clip. As others have said, it's wonderful that Martin made that call. I don't think it has been said so far...............but it won't be only Paul that Martin has helped by making that call.

Think how many people in a similar situation to Paul were listening to that broadcast. Also, by bringing it to the attention of the MSE members and guests...........there will be many more people who will also be helped.

To repeat what Fran posted earlier, for anyone feeling despair or suicidal..........contact The Samaritans.

I'd like to say thank you for caring Martin.:A

ooh I've got the shivers now.

Well done Martin - top class advice :T

I hope the caller has managed to get himself sorted out a bit.

  • I wouldn't have expected anything less of Martin to be honest. It was his expertise in money management and getting the best out of the system that drew me to the site, just as I've been drawn to similar (although inferior :) ) ones in the past. However, it was his obvious compassion and 'human' approach that made me want to stay. People also have a tendency to listen to Martin - witness the time he said 'Go England!', and they went... ;)

Well done, Martin. You did the right thing.
Eek! Someone's stolen my signature!
