    Bravo Martin,
I'm a psychiatric Nurse and in my opinion, you did a fab job. It's the hardest thing in the world to put the phone down or walk away from someone who feels like that, after you have spoken to them. The greatest thing you can (and did) offer is hope and often, thats terribly hard because people have to be willing (able) to accept it.

I think by helping and encouraging the caller to make a plan for the future (calling the CCCS) you have done all you can to help him make himself safe in the short term.

    Great Job.

I love this place. To me, that snippet sums up what I've gained from MSE in the last week or so. I feel like I've come to a place where I'm being nurtured and shown the right path to take.

I hope we get an update from that guy, I wish him all the best on his journey to finding the new 'norm' for him and his family.

Hi five Martin, you rock. :T

    :rotfl: @ 'pooing your pants'.

I don't want this to sounds really "sucky" but....I am proud to be part of this forum with someone like Martin at the helm. Picking up the phone like that and telling the guy straight.

:T @ "pooing pants" - come on people we all know that feeling!!

Well done Martin, I really hope you do listen to it. You sounded concerned, genuine and above all, HELPFUL and offering the man HOPE. He needed a lifeline and you offered it.

I really hope he called the CCCS and I hope he comes to find us on the forum soon.

I also hope he called someone about his gambling but one step at a time.

    Martin,
Don't over analyse what you said. The point is that you did something and made the call. Good on you.

You did well, the very nicest bit being that you cared enough to call, can't buy that.

First time for me to publicly praise Martin - well done  That was really heartfelt, honest, solid advice. Non judgemental and most importantly advice that is eminently sensible.

I am sure you gave that man real hope for the future and a feeling of self worth back.

It would be wonderful to think that not only did he make that call but that he also found this site. :T

Well done for taking the initiative and calling in. I wonder how many experts were tuned in but couldn't be bothered to make the effort and call in with advice.

I really really hope that the guy called CCCS and perhaps he might come on here one day so we can give him some mutual support and encouragement.
