Ok, I went and found my price list in the recycling bin.
The Tewkesbury isn't the most expensive - the Haworth is the most expensive by a long way - but the Tewkesbury it is one of the most expensive ranges.
With a 50% discount (and believe me, you're insane if you pay that much), an eight unit example kitchen is £1927 exc VAT. So, if you double that to sixteen, you're still talking around £4500 including VAT. Now you might have more drawers and things like magic corners and pull out larders can add obscene amounts, but a 50% discount is nothing in Howdens. I still think you could potentially take another 40% off that for the kitchen they use as the example - it should come in at around £3000?Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Hi Doozergirl, that's really helpful thanks so much for coming back.
Unfortunately after going to the showroom on Saturday, we didn't like teh Tekewsbury in the flesh so asked for requotes for the Burford and Hamilton ranges. These have come in at just over £4k including two of those magic corner kidney things. Still seems pretty pricey to me.
I'm not sure how I go about getting the price down, not sure if it's Howden's I should speak to or my fitter?
Any advice would be great.

You can deal direct with Howdens if you are not trade if you say "its self build".
I fitted my own kitchen (except electrics and gas) and I dealt direct. I also took the quotes (minus the % discounts to about 5 different branches) and some beat it, some would not entertain it.
The last kitchen I bought from them was the Glendevon cream range. It was a huge kitchen (with Island) and included double oven, american fridge, wine cooler, Franke sink and tap, Stoves hob and the whole lot was 8K inc VAT.
some of the appliances are unbranded, but I think your price is ski high. The branch and the tradesman is takign a good cut.
Take it to another branch.
