Anyone with Howdens pricing knowledge? Quote advice please

We like the Tewkesbury Oak range from howdens and for 2 corner units, larder, 5 single wall units, 4 drawer unit, drawer unit above fridge, two base units and integral door fronts, we've been quoted £5800, which seems a bit pricey to me. It is a solid oak front range though so I wondered if it's one of their pricier ranges?

Thanks

Do you know any builders who may have an account with Howdens who can get a good discount.

I was under the impression that Howdens only sold to the trade.

and yes, it does seem a bit pricey.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

    Hi

that quote is through a tradesman. Thought it did seem a bit but I guess it depends how much discount he's passing onto us. Thanks

If it's solid oak doors then it will be a pricier range but that sounds like an awful lot! What sort of % "discount" is he getting you?

I don't know what discount I'm getting, feel a bit awkward asking. Haven't seen the actual quote from howdens, this was his headed paper quotation.

As there are 15 units plus drawers fronts maybe that is about right?

Guess I should go back to him and ask if that price us negotiable.

    Thanks

He prob hasnt marked it up from list price - just taken anywhere upto 40% as he has an account, Howden kitchens are good they just annoy me how they are sold. Fair enough I suppose from howdens point of view its like the tradesmnan getting a sales bonus, more kithchens he buys more dicount he probably gets. If I were you get another 2 quotes & when you get these quotes ask the fitter up front what discount you will get if you choose howdens (this way you can show you are aware of the discounts available to kitchen fitters and you wont feel uncomfortable asking him as you have had no contact with him before) In fact, n ow you have the info from your first fitter give the second one your exact spec and go from there - it will take him one phonecall to howdens and then one back to you to get you a better price (possibly ;))

The Tewksbury is one of the dearest they do but it is lovely. I had quotes for that one and Burford - the Tewsbury was almost 2 x the Burfords price.

Hi - I think it was in the high £5000s - it wasn't the price that put me off - I just decided I didn't want another wood kitchen and went for the cream. I ordered my Jamocha worktops and upstands from B&Q during the 20% weekend (plus Quidco) which was much cheaper than Howdens. I've bought a lovely kitchen tap via Ebay (Quidco again) which only cost me £38 and I've got an Astracast sink from Ebay which came today - I didn't want a s/s sink so I've got a lovely beige composite one.
Fitter starts on Tuesday. Must decide on a floor......
