IE Showing Blank pages

Options
I seem to have encountered a virus on my other PC, but I now can't even get IE to download any websites so can't even go and download malwarebytes etc. Basically IE is just showing a blank white page whilst it tries to connect to the page.

Can anyone please help??

Thank you

    Sadly you have 3 threads about your problems, and that is not going to help to get a useful response, the more helpful posters (not me:D) will get confused with the conflicting information you receive on the other two threads and I am sure you will end up using suggestions from one and lose track of what you have tried.

    One post relates to missing programs, the other post to virus pop-up messages and this one to my more immediate problem of IE (the clue is in the title). I thought it was easier to isolate this issue in one thread. Not sure why you are wasting your time digging up my threads and collating them together etc.

    I do agree with this though:D:D:D:D:D

    I thought that perhaps they may be related to a common problem , just a suggestion , also I was not wasting time digging them up they were all on the same screen on the forum. However I have probably a fair idea of the cause of the problem :D:p

  • Whatever. I came to the techie forum looking for some help, not to waste my time engaging in some trivial argument.

    If you are the sort of person that knows the answer yet thinks its a better idea to boast about it rather than trying to help I'll let you be.

    1 Get an anti-virus installed and run a scan
    2. Goto control panels and click internet options and click advanced tab and click reset.
    3. load up IE in safe mode (All Programs->Accessories->System Tools->Internet Explorer Safe mode)
    or
    3. Start -> Run -> "iexplore -extoff"
    4. Press Alt+TA (tool -> Magange Addons)
    5. disable what's not needed
    6. check host file. (C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts) (open in notpad)
    6.1 it should only have 127.0.0.1 localhost in it (excluding lines that start with #)

    That's a quick review list of couse more detail is needed for more help :P

    Humm
    okay try this start->run
    CONTROL INETCPL.CPL

    to resolved the problem with rundll32.exe
    okay get your trusted XP CD and do the following
    1. Put the Windows XP CD ROM disk in the CD ROM drive.
    2. Click Start, and then click Run.
    3. Type expand X:\i386\rundll32.ex_ c:\windows\system32\rundll32.exe in the Open box, where X is the letter of your CD ROM Drive.
    4. Restart the computer.
    Press any other key to continue.

    Sorry Pythagorous , I was not trying to be unhelpful but as MadTechie has now suggested "1 get an anti virus program" It appears from your other threads you have Norton as anti-virus, which I also use and happy with, but others might suggest it is better to use a free AV their opinion is valid too.
    I was trying to help a little by saving you and others reading/suggesting what has been said before. Now I will leave you alone too, and good luck with your problems, there are people with more experience of virii/malware than I will ever have.
