Could some kind soul who's actually done it please just confirm whether or not you can still receive Channel 4 in HD, on a Sky+HD box, after you cancel Sky completely.
(Not record it, etc., without paying Sky. Just watch it.)
Thanks.
Don't laugh at banana republics. :rotfl:
As a result of how you voted in the last three General Elections,
you'd now be better off living in one.

You can't get the HD of a channel without subscribing to the package that the 'standard' version of the channel itself is on.
Your £10 HD subscription simply adds the HD version of whichever channels you ALREADY have in your subscription, providing there is an HD version.

Yes, it's free to view. Your ex sub card will decrypt C4 HD.RIP independent MSE.

No, that's NOT correct.
If you pay the £10 (or have blagged it free, on a deal) to receive HD, you do get some channels in HD to which you don't subscribe (and can't receive) in SD.
We subscribe only to the "Knowledge" Pack and the "Style & Culture Pack" and we upgraded to HD for £10 a month.
We can't (and have no desire to) receive Sky 1, which is part of the "Variety" pack. If I select Sky 1 (in SD) on Channel 106, it displays the "Call 0845 (whatever) to upgrade your package etc."
But if I select Channel 170, I get Sky1 in HD (with the same scheduling).
The same applies to Eurosport. I don't know, and care less, what pack that's in; but we get the same "upgrade your package" message on Channels 410 and 411, yet it displays in HD on Channel 412.
I've just done this to check, and it's so!
What you don't get are HD versions of the two "Premium" collections of channels that are the "Sports Pack" and the "Movies Pack" unless you subscribe to those.
I'd imagine that it works the other way, too: namely that if you subscribe only to the "Variety Pack" and pay the £10 a month supplement for HD, you can get Sky Arts 1 and 2 in HD on Channels 258 and 259 , but not in SD on Channels 256 and 257 because they're in the "Style & Culture Pack".
But I've no way of checking that one. Try it yourself!
Confusing, isn't it?
You are correct, to reiterate you get ALL the HD channels with the exception of the premium sports and movie channels with the £10 HD Sub.0
