problem with plantronics audio 90 skype headset

Try a voice test, right click the speaker icon then adjust audio properties then voice tab then test hardware also on the audio tab make sure in recording you have selected it and not your default input device.

ps sound recording shows realtek ac97audio, is that what you mean?

its not a usb headset. it has two cables one cable for mic and one for headset, but they come off the same headset

yes those are the ones and the jacks are in correct.if i change them round i get nothing
