The plot thickens... SFE have finally decided to say properly what I'll be getting, having sent bits and pieces back and forth to them several times. I spoke to someone on the phone at SFE a while ago and mentioned to her about my ineligibility for ADG, and she said it would just drop off the application once they'd looked through it and seen that I wasn't eligible. However, now they've put up all the grants and loans I'll be getting properly, the ADG is showing there! So does this mean they've decided I'll get it anyway? Or will they realise in a couple of years and demand it back? Any answers?
    Thanks again.

You need to phone them to get clarification of this.

You shouldn't be eligible for this. My only recommendation would be if they don't change it, to keep the amount stored in an interest account until such time as they ask for it back.

    New levels of incompetancy...

Mmm, I think maybe I'll keep quiet for now and put it away somewhere if they give it me.
    Haha, my thoughts entirely.

I applied for the ADG too as my husband will be in FE in september (we are not under 25 though). I sent all I was asked for, then they asked for a letter of confirmation which my husband sent, then they asked for more evidence. 3 months on and still no idea what I can get.

Idiots the lot of them. How about you have mine when it supposedly comes through! Seeing as how you're actually entitled to it. :p

Right, I've just got off the phone to these twits. Woman I spoke to didn't know, nor did her manager, then she tried to phone someone else who wasn't there, so eventually she said that they should call back in a week or so. If not I should call them back, and explain the whole thing again no doubt. What the hell am I supposed to do?! I'm tempted to send back my declaration changing the bit where it says 'I agree to pay back any overpayment in full.' Then photocopy it as evidence. Wouldn't surprise me if they don't notice and don't do anything.

I have come to the conclusion that they are making it up as they go along. On another note, I tried the HB calculator for my local council (also in S. Cumbria) and there was a bit where you could put 'unearned income' so I tried it with various amounts relating to student loans when I was trying to figure out if I could afford to study. I hope it's not too inaccurate:eek:
